In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

HORROR IN THE WIND is one of those times I watched a movie and finished it still having no idea what I'd just seen. I still don't know even know, even though the film plays out in linear fashion. It appears to be some kind of comedy, but if so then it's the kind that just isn't funny at all, unless crude humour and bad actors mugging at the screen is your idea of a laugh. The tale is about a scientific experiment carried out in a laboratory by a couple of dweebs. The experiment has been funded by staunch conservatives in the White House in order to put an end to people's sex drives, but it ends up having the opposite effect, releasing a pheromone that has the power to alter sexuality. What we get are a lot of lame sex scenes that try so hard to be funny but really aren't. It's a frankly embarrassing waste of time and effort.

I was in a school meeting with this woman, interviewing for a job as a teacher, and she had to postpone our interview because she was so engrossed in telling her friend this story. The story was of the most hilarious movie she had ever seen. She was laughing so hard I thought she was going to choke. She went on and on about "Horror in the Wind" so I bought the DVD and yes, she was right. The kids had to be left out because there is a lot of sex in it. Funny sex. My wife and I watched it in our room and snickered til the end. It's a highly unlikely futuristic sci fi comedy but fun. Religious fanatics (Pat Robertson) win the white house and fund research to put an end to sex but it goes haywire. I guess they got what they deserved.
