Hoops & Yoyo Ruin Christmas Trailers

Hoops and Yoyo wait up to see Santa, and inadvertently end up in his sleigh, traveling with him through the time-space continuum that allows Santa to visit everyone in the world in one night. When they fall off the sleigh part-way through the continuum, they find themselves back in time with a young Kris Kringle, who has not yet become the magical toy-giver we know of today. Their arrival back in time disrupts the natural order of events that will make Kris Kringle, Santa, forcing the duo into a desperate race to set things right so that the world will have its Santa Claus.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

Yoyo, Hoops and Piddles are big Santa Claus fans. They wait on the roof to see him. They sneak on his sleigh and get thrown back in time. They disrupt young stable boy Kris Kringle who is working to compete for Master Toymaker. They try to fix what they wreck. Eventually, Kris Kringle is able to fix his toy and enter into the competition. Then they discover children are strictly forbidden from the toys. These characters will either annoy you or charm you. I bet on annoyance for most adults although little kids may like the wacky voices and bright colors. I'm willing to give them a chance. I really like the story. It's very Christmas and has a sweet message. Most importantly, it has the essence of Santa Claus and fits a Christmas TV special.

"Hoops and Yoyo Ruin Christmas" was a real disappointment overall. And that's tough for me to admit, because I'm a big fan of the pair.First off is the title: they actually don't ruin Christmas, they just derail the emergence of the Santa Claus character for a short time. They get him back on track pretty quickly.Much of the characters' charm comes from their overly-caffeinated behavior, but the writers dialed it WAY down. And Piddles was essentially useless. The story was flimsy and hackneyed and, at just 30 minutes, didn't allow for any real development--just hopscotching from one point to another. Details could have made the story richer--such as why was the toy-making contest so important? Why was Kris (a self-identified "stable boy") interested in entering the contest? But the worst part was this: substitute just about any other animated characters for Hoops and Yoyo, and the net effect would be the same.Give me the Grinch and Charlie Brown!
