Very disappointing...

... View MoreThe performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
... View MoreThe film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
... View MoreSnapshot of a bygone era. This film is just wonderful. It's a brief travelogue of holiday scenes shot at Blackpool in 1957, set to the accompaniment of music from Chris Barber jazz band. Although born a year after this film was made, the scenes are familiar to me from childhood holidays. In 1982 as a member of staff on a British Antarctic survey base, this film was the most popular of all at our disposal. Yes, it's nostalgic, but what's wrong with that? If you like jazz, you will love the soundtrack.
