I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Haywire is an excellent espionage film. Made even better by Gina's understated performance and realistic fight scenes. Not to mention a great cast and great score. Quintessential Soderberg.

With Steven Soderburgh at the helm and a multi A-list line up (Ewen MacGregor, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Bill Paxton & Channing Tatum), this should have been far far better than it turned out to be. That being said, it's largely unknown main player Gina Corano does a fantastic job in the lead role. The extras on the DVD would suggest that this whole project was built around her, which is amazing in itself, using an amazing amount of recognised talent around somebody who was only really previously known as an MMA fighter. She was obviously unphased by all this and easily comes out as the star of the show. The plot is a little confusing at first, but given that it was a mere 88 minutes long, it soon pieces itself together. Most of the main stars roles, apart from MacGregor, are not very big at all but it's not the acting that is the fault here....it's the character building. Basically, there isn't any at all (probably due to the films length), which suggests to me that Soderburgh could have made a longer, more intriguing movie. The films premise is quite intriguing itself, but it's lack of feeling leaves the viewer a little flat. Soderburgh does not however focus on Corano's fighting talents alone.....to me he has helped to create a very good actress and this reflects in some of the films that she has appeared in since. To sum up....I found this quite a good spy thriller, but in the main I was left a little disappointed when there was so much talent on show.

After watching Deadpool I remembered that I didn't watch this movie, Gina Carano action vehicle from 2011. Now that I have done that I have some questions.First one - how did this got made in the first place? I find it insane that Soderbergh cast Gina Carano as a goddamn lead in this and then cast all star acting crew around her. I mean, supporting actors here are Tatum, Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Banderas, Michael Douglas, etc.Don't get me wrong, stunt casting is sometimes interesting and I generally like Carano in Deadpool but she is so flatfaced and not good in this. Yeah, fights are cool, but you don't get that star cast just to support someone who is a noob actor like her. It's confusing and kinda boring movie, which is even more perplexing given the great supporting cast. Story is not that good as well and photography is somewhat average with completely uninteresting shots and frames. Weird-but-not-that-bad movie this Haywire is. Can't recommend it though, except if you want to see how odd it is.

I cannot understand the current rating for this movie. I find this movie both out of the ordinary as well as very fascinating to watch. Often with action movies the story gets either banal or way to unrealistic. I do not want to spoil anything here, but I started viewing this not completely blank, but after peeking at the description on IMDb. After not too many minutes watching I felt that I had stumbled onto a gem. I could not understand the rating given. Therefore I _had_ to give my honest opinion about this film and rate it accordingly. I can fully recommend this movie as a well written, action packed and, not least important - out of the ordinary type of story. This film starts out high in adrenaline. I was anxious that this would not last. But after some time I was only anxious that the end would not be as good as it had been so far... Silly, I know. Recommendeeeed... (Slight spoil ahead.) There's a lot of fighting in this movie, and I like to think that even if it _is_ a movie, the fighting is very close to realistic. It even seems she has to give way somewhat to larger weight but takes it back with technique, and while most fights in movies makes someone skilled in martial arts laugh out loud, the performance here is mostly impressive with how close to realism they've managed to make it.
