Neighbors Spencer and Louise have bonded over their fascination with a recent string of murders terrorizing their community. When a new tenant named Victor moves into the building, all three quickly hit it off. However, they soon discover each has his or her own dark secret. As the violence outside mounts, the city retreats indoors for safety. But the more time these three neighbors spend together in their apartment building, the clearer it becomes that what they once thought of as a safe haven is as dangerous as any outside terrors they could imagine.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Victor, a tall, lanky, awkward guy moves into an apartment complex in Canada. He's quick to attempt to befriend a girl and her wheelchair bound fiancé. However there's a killer on the loose and things slowly begin to unravel.A very slow and plodding movie yet well-acted enough to keep my interests despite some character motivations that were quizzical to say the least. Even an ending that left many more questions than answers, didn't detract from my enjoyment of the film (that much) That being said, your mileage may vary, just keep in mind that it's much more a quirky character study and NOT a horror film, nor ever much of a thriller for that matter.

Although the film is not perfect by any means, and does contain so holes here that will have most scratching their heads, this is a brilliant piece of Canadian cinema considering it's track record with few to more hits recently. Parts of this film felt somewhat inspired by Kubrick's The Shining minus the hallucinatory elements as well as a Hitchockian noir element in the mix. This is a character piece that really gets into your head and keeps you guessing all the way through with the who-done-it element quite alive here. It is a bit slow paced, but that pacing works very well here, although, it may be the factor that loses most of it's audiences that happen to stumble upon it. The cast here is nearly flawless as well, and Canadian actor Jay Baruchel is great as always, but doesn't drown the rest of the cast. This makes for a nearly perfect drama thriller noir with some darkly comedic elements within.

SPOILER This movie SUCKED, the ending did not wrap up all the questions that the movie created, the DNA, of the sperm, it would match to the innocent guy but it would also show the sperm had been frozen. So he would have gotten off that charge. It also didn't answer the question of what was wrong with the female lead character....as each characters "flaw" was shown in the beginning of the movie. The cops seemed to be stupid as the lead female character knew or had involvement of two serial killer victims and they didn't find that suspicious ???? a waste of money the ONLY perk was the semi nude scene with the massage therapy and that was seriously lacking... total disappointment

I was interested in seeing this movie mainly due to the setting: murders in NDG during the last referendum (it was a poignant time). However, the use of this setting was under-developed to the point of being useless. This story could have taken place anywhere. What did it matter to the story that this conflict between Quebec's two solitudes was taking place? How did it affect the murders? Why waste time on it if it doesn't? Was it just supposed to be a point of connection between the neighbours? Why not just hockey? What was the "serial killer's" motivation anyway? This was never explained... I guess it's supposed to be enough that a serial killer just likes to kill? Also, I found that the story was entirely from an "anglo" perspective with the other groups portrayed negatively and/or 2-dimensionally. This movie had nothing particular to say and I never gave a rat's ass about any of the characters... maybe that was intentional, because they didn't really care about anyone else. It also supposedly takes place from October to February, but all scenes look like they were filmed in December! This could have been forgiven if the rest of the movie was better developed. And "Roland" is a common French Canadian name... no one in Montreal would ever comment on it one way or the other... that "joke" just didn't work. Just shows how out of touch the filmmakers are with their environment. On a positive note, there were some nice shots of my neighbourhood and familiar apartments... and top notch French-Quebecois swearing ;) Only Montrealers interested in local movie productions would find this movie mildly intriguing. All others, stay away. If this movie is any indication of the state of movie-making in English Quebec, we're not doing too well. If you want to see an entertaining movie with something to say about the Canadian French-English dichotomy, see Bon Cop Bad Cop. If you already have, you'll be like me and want to see it again!
