While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

or only sketch. two guys. an accident. and a relationship. nothing more. the difference - the nature of relation between central characters. but it is not very important because ambitions of script are limited. few scenes. and nothing else. so, it is a film about roots. and way. and real life as sign of honest freedom. it is a good film and that is basic sin because it has great potential to be more profound. but, it is a problem of team choice. and personal taste. sure, the Hallmark atmosphere is nice. and the warm atmosphere of a small place is realistic. but it is like one of characters food. something missed. few drops of salt, few slices of onion. so, it remains a honest movie. not seed of revolution. but decent, OK and not real boring.

There are a lot of technical problems with this film, as have been pointed out in other user comments. Unfortunately, if the script is also weak (which is it) and the performances don't elevate the material, it highlights the other problems. This is the case with this film. It features many of the problems with first time directors and first time writers, especially when they are working as one and the same. The script might have been improved with different direction, and likewise a director who was not trying to film his own material would have likely had more distance and objectivity about any number of the flaws, weaknesses, poorly developed plot points, bad dialogue and the numerous other problems present in this film.A number of users have recommended the film as OK and NICE and therefore, at least, worth watching so long as you don't have the expectation of great art or, even, at minimum a genuinely decent, engaging film. If that's how you want to spend some two hours of life, time you will never get back, then I guess that's as logical a criteria as anything else. However, there is no shortage of independent films with gay content that feature a decent to good script, decent to good acting or other factors which help elevate the material from the typical indie film glitches than can happen on a low-budget film. You can and should expect more from a film and definitely more than this delivers.

The idea, premise, twists and turns of this movie are great. The actors are beautiful and I suspect are good. However the best actor born can't shine when given lines that haven't been fleshed out. If this movie had spent a few more dollars on the screen writer it would have been a good one. Others have already commented on how horrible this movie is but I would like to comment otherwise. This is a perfect picture to show at an advanced USC film class, after they have learned what to do and now need to be shown what not to do.My primary objection is still with the screen writer. It seems as if he/she took the book and cut and pasted it into the script. Almost every scene has no congruity or relevance to the previous one. The actors were given lines that you or I might say in real life, we are not interesting people, we need talented writers to transcribe our thoughts into words for the screen or stage. I feel bad saying that and am sorry for upsetting the screen writer but he/she needs to learn.Screen writing is a talent more artistic than the actor's craft. If the words don't pull emotion from the viewer the actor can not. I also blame the director and producer of this atrocity for not pulling out, they ought to know better. This story can and should be told again with the realism injected with good writing and production. I have not seen the actors before or since so I assume that they can act and feel most sorry for them.

I guess we gays have come a long way as now some of us have the time & money to waste on mediocre, dull as dishwater PG13 "mysteries" that have all of the dramatic tension of a Scooby Doo episode. Jeez, GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN makes the worst episode of MURDER SHE WROTE seem like THE MALTESE FALCON!! What I just don't get is WHY this film was made & who is the audience? If there were attractive leads or hot sex maybe I could understand the effort (there IS a market for soft core gay porn) but there's just NOTHING going on here. There isn't one second of originality in this film, not one of the actors displays any enthusiasm for their roles (I've seen hostages do better line readings), the cinematography is 7-11 security cam level, the awful neo-folkie music obscures a lot of the dialog (guess that's a blessing) & the running time is padded out with numerous scenes of people driving. Were it not for the lack of sex scenes or any flesh for that matter I would swear this was an edited porn film as the sets are hilariously unconvincing but not nearly as rigid, wooden & unattractive as the actors. This wouldn't even cut it as a Troma film! The filmmakers had a budget & materials to make a gay themed mystery/romance & this is what they came up with? Man do I hope they all know how to type or wait tables because the art is just NOT in their blood! This one is up there with PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE & ROBOT MONSTER as one of the most inept films ever made. The only way GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN can be (almost) enjoyed is "Mystery science Thatre 3000" style. My boyfriend & I were howling with laughter at this turd & heckled it mercilessly. Hey here's an idea: the new all gay cable channel Logo can hire some really bitchy drag queens to watch bad gay flicks & heckle them. THAT is the only way I can recommend it.
