The Professional: Golgo 13 is a 1983 action anime film directed by Osamu Dezaki and this is a great film! It was dubbed into English by Streamline Pictures and is very well adapted into English. This film is both visually done well in two areas: The hand drawn animation is very good and is nice to the story and the CGI animation adds nicely as well, in fact The Professional: Golgo 13 was the very first anime film to have CGI.The animation is done in sort of like a comic book manga style. The opening and ending theme songs are performed by Cindy Wood are both very good and fit with the theme of the film. The film is very bloody and graphic and not for the faint of heart but still are adapted well from the original manga series. This is a very good anime film that you will like that is sorta like a James Bond type film. I give The Professional: Golgo 13 a 7/10

"The Professional: Golgo 13" is an Action-Anime directed by Osamu Dezaki year 1983. It was produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, which was also involved in other stuff like "Sonic X" and "Akira".Basic plot: Oil baron Leonard Dawson witnesses his son Robert Dawson get assassinated by Duke "Golgo 13" Toga, and since then, he becomes obsessed to have Duke Toga dead by having the FBI, CIA and the U.S. Army to hunt him down. Will "Golgo 13" be able to survive all the bloody violence enough to even meet the evil Snake, Gold and Silver later in the movie...?Together with the 1988 masterpiece "Akira", I highly loved this pretty violent anime-film. Various people die during the course of the movie, often with gory result. It has plenty of action and violence to keep the fans entertained. The animation style is great, very manga-like as if it was made in the late 70s. As I have the original Japanese version of the film on a French DVD, I can so say the opening theme "Pray for you" by Cindy Wood totally rocks, as well as the dated CGI intro sequence itself with skeletons and bullets!Speaking about the scenes itself, I have at least two favorite scenes, it be the "Bernard Mueller hit"-sequence which results in a car chase, as well as the ending sequence beginning with the Atari-like CGI-helicopter scene which I honestly love. I even like the action-scenes itself. This is why I confirm this film as my second favorite Anime movie of all time, right behind my all-time-favorite anime "AKIRA".If you menage to find the Japanese version of this film, not the Streamline- or the Urban Vision-version, I suggest you to take this film, amongst them because of the above mentioned "Pray for you" song.

I never read the Golgo 13 manga, i played 2 games on the NES and i liked the character, the way how James Bond should be !From what i know, Golgo 13 is a huge manga series in Japan that it's keeping being published even today, it's a cultural phenomenon. This anime is a masterpiece, very good, better than expected, better than a dozen of "James Bond" movies better than all the "Bourne trilogy".Plot: after having successfully completed an assignment in Italy, someone sets up a trap for Golgo 13 (AKA: Duke Togo), but he manages to escape alive, now he must discover why and who wanted him dead......This Anime features lots of blood, high body count and nudity, almost every girl in the whole movie gets naked. There is also a good soundtrack, with good jazz scores.Highly recommended if you want to get introduced to the character, don't miss it and Hollywood, put your hands down on Golgo 13, go produce another crappy kid friendly action movie.

Oil industrialist Leonard Dawson had a 60th birthday on a cruise ship and his son Robert was making his day happy until a single bullet kills his boy. The man who killed him is Golgo 13 who is a mysterious hit-man who loves the ladies as he scores with them and goes out for some killing as being his choice of sport. Dawson vows revenge as he hires assassins and the FBI to go after Golgo 13 but can the unstoppable assassin live through all this ordeal? Very underrated cult Japanese animated action thriller based on the popular Japanese comics is a sensational one. This one isn't for the kids due to graphic bloody violence, scenes of sex with nudity and language but the film is very well animated and stylish. Sure the CGI in the climax is kind of laughable by today even though back then it was a little cheap and the storyline is very compelling as well as the old school type of animation here. The score is very good here that ranges from jazzy to more heartfelt even during the dramatic powerful climax. If your looking for an underrated Japanese animated diamond in the rough, check this one out.
