... View MoreGood start, but then it gets ruined
... View MoreGreat movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
... View MoreLet me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
... View MoreTaking up from where the first goal movie left off, Munez and Harris are off to play for real Madrid. The movie now looks at the fame and fortune of successful players. You start getting issues of stardom, playing around, financial failures, getting old (for Gavin Harris) and what it means to play football. While it is a reasonable attempt it mostly falls flat due to its failure to really grab the topic by the balls or to satisfactorily flesh out the characters or tie up stories properly.A good movie, but one that your life could do without. The sort of movie you can watch while doing something else.
... View MoreThis is a bad movie Now before I say anything , Munez cant even kick the ball, the way he kicked the ball was odd, I have never seen a pro soccer player kicking the ball like he did in that movie, besides what is the story? Oh a soccer player moving from New castle United to Real Madrid , so what? Now how could the UEFA champions League cup final take place in Santiago Bernabéu when real Madrid is one of the two teams qualified? It should be held on Neutral pitch.. and why would the new castle fans cheer for Real Madrid when arsenal was the other part of the cup final , Arsenal is an English Club so they'd go for the English , wouldn't they? Oh is it cos of santiago the one that dumped them for money , fame and women? I doubt it , its a bad bad movie
... View MoreNot a 'great' film by any stretch of the imagination, but not nearly as bad as some of the 'football' experts would tell us in their reviews. I'm certainly no expert on 'the game' but this movie was thoroughly entertaining for anyone that can get over themselves and their knowledge of what the football world might be or is really like.Sure, anyone in any profession or with any particular interest and knowledge of an area, field or profession can sit and pick holes and inaccuracies in a movie about such, but watching a film isn't necessarily about self-validation. This film achieves what it sets out to do, which is promote the game and the players in flashing neon lights and entertain the masses who might not necessarily be football fanatics. The 'star' Santiago rejoins his 'wingman' Gavin Harris from the first film in a Top Gun style opportunity to foot it with the best of the best for the #1 club, surrounded by the best players. He seeks to force his way into the starting lineup but has plenty of competition. Naturally there are plenty of hiccups and setbacks along the way, including injuries and relationship problems, but they finally get their act together and both cover themselves in glory at the end. There are no award winning performances I have to say, but the character 'Gavin Harris' is exactly that, a character, while I can't comment on Rutger Hauer's performance as coach, but he certainly looked the part.GOAL II has plenty of glitz, glamour, flash cribs/cars, eye candy, sweaty bodies, 'football' action and a pumping soundtrack (all that and not an 'F' word or sex scene in sight). I recommend watching it on the biggest screen you can find with the loudest surround sound possible cranked up.For me, it certainly does for European Footballers what 'Top Gun' did for Naval Aviators and I wouldn't have minded being either after seeing the films.
... View MoreAs far as movies go, this is an entirely predictable movie but its pretty decent. If you want a nice Sunday film where you don't have to think, its ideal. The football bits are quite good, the cameos are great and the story is reasonably engaging. Im not saying its brilliant by any means but I don't think it deserves the negative comments its had. Its a good fun football film that any sports fan will enjoy - and fair play for ending on a cliffhanger. Becker is a charming lead and Friel pulls of a reasonably genuine Geordie accent. If you want a sports movie with a bit of heart, fluff, action and a bit of glamour, you won't be disappointed.
