Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

What an excellent surprise! I expected this movie to be similar in quality to other films in its genre, such as Legion, The Prophecy, Underworld etcetera - all of which I consider to be good quality entertainment and storytelling but not much more - but this film turned out to be far better. I would even agree with some of the other reviewers here in calling it a masterpiece in its genre! The first thing that struck me about this film was it's authentic and poetic tone which involves the viewer in it's mysterious story. This comes partly from a great script and secondly from superb editing. The pace is just right, dark and intriguing. There is beauty in the character development and the acting from every single actor throughout is truly fantastic! The characters have a strange sense of reality to them, from noble and kind, to sick and twisted, but all in a very unique and original way.The action scenes are awesome and lots of fun. The cinematography and art direction perfectly fit the mood of the film, and often left me thinking "That was brilliantly filmed, like a painting." They carry you deftly through the story. The storyline is excellent too! But, you should watch it to discover that for yourself. But what I will say is that the storyline is deep, existential and very moving. It makes you think and leaves you wondering in a really good way. Considering the tiny budget of this film, I cannot find any faults with this film at all really. I thoroughly enjoyed it and this is the first film in ages that I left feeling that i want to see it a second time soon, cos it was that good! Kudos to the director / writer I hope he makes many more great films.Highly recommended!

This movie looks great and everyone on the film needs to be commended for doing such a bang up job with so little money. Its good that Sony took the punt and threw some money in to finish the visual effects because it would have made this ambitious project so much lesser for it without all those finishing touches. To that end you can say that this isn't really a low budget film - not by Australian standards if the rumor of a 5 million injection from Sony is true. My big gripe about this film though is that it could have gone somewhere bad ass but apart from looking cool it pretty much spins its wheels the whole time. This could have been a bad ass angel kill kill kill film but there ends up being lots and lots of talking instead and a few inventive but quick action scenes. But if you're an Aussie buy it because these guys deserve to get their due.

Trash. Totally a waste of money, effort and time...not my time and money, but those who produced the film, even those 150.000 dollars were too much for that rubbish.1. PURGATORY? There is no such thing...By the time a man dies, the verdict is there...It's either HEAVEN OR HELL, nothing in between.Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement2. Anything that comes from God CANNOT DIE...Angels cannot die...Demons cannot die...Satan cannot die...The soul of man cannot die...3. Michael is presented as being Lucifer 2.0 a new rebel...Michael is not such a fool... Michael still stands along with Gabriel and they are giving Devil hell!!!Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. (this is what have already happened)Apocalypse 12:7-9 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (this will happen)4. Gabriel having sex??? What on earth were thinking those who did that film??? Preposterous, disgraceful and totally unacceptable!Luke 1:18-20 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. 19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. 20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.Oh, please try and provoke Gabriel.....The REAL ONE!!!5. Uriel? Rafael? Amatiel? and all other archangels? Where on earth did the find those? No references whatsoever of the names of other archangels apart from Michael and Gabriel are given in Bible. There are references in the book of Tobit about Rafael and in the book of Enoch about Uriel, but those books are not included in the Bible. I am not saying those angels don't exist, but only we have not proof they do.6. The power of angels is exhaustible? How come???7. Evil (even in disguise under rebellious Michael) can be stronger than Light? Do you know who the LIGHT is??? Jesus...John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.Wake up people...no one can defeat Jesus...it's just impossible!I could go forever with that film but I think I made my point clear.Save yourself time and don't watch that film. Feed a crocodile or something...it would be more edifying that watching the film!!John 1:5 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The battle for Purgatory is waged by angels and fallen in landscape that resembles a city of night. Purgatory is hidden from the dark and the light and until Gabriel arrives he has no idea what he's gotten himself into, or what the rules are. The six angels that have gone before him have either been killed, wounded or become mortal. If there is any hope for the souls that pass through the land Gabriel must find some way to defeat the fallen who now rule the land and allow the dawn to come. This is a dark brooding film that looks like its been cribbed from any number of other films, but it works on its own terms. Those terms include a bit more style over substance, with the look of the film seemingly geared toward creating the dank mood that pervades the film. The mood seems to be what the film is about since the theology is more the excuse to have super humans running about firing guns at each other.(I'm still not sure why the place looks at it does, or why there are "mortals" but I guess thats the film's conceit and we have to go with it).In all honesty I had to watch the film twice before I could come up with anything to say about it. The first time, early this morning it struck me as kind of a purely form over content film with the look of the film trying to make the film seem hipper then it really was. The second viewing just a little while ago made me feel better about the film since I got a sense that perhaps there was more then just the look. I think the problem is that the film is actually trying to do too much with the result being that the film has to stop frequently to explain things.Several times the film stops dead so that someone can explain to Gabriel the way things are. This would be fine in the real word but not in a film where it slows things down.(I don't know why the filmmakers created a story where this was necessary-actually I do, the premise that the Light can't see purgatory and doesn't know whats going on or the rules is a clever one, the downside is it requires endless explanation) Ultimately though this is a good little movie. Personally I think it could have and should have been better. Its worth a look especially if you like the dark brooding look it has.Between 6 and 7 out of 10 with bits much better then that. One last note-I really hated the eyes of the fallen.
