This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

I am writing this review after watching Fitoor for the second time and I must say that it was better than I remembered!I think that the film's major flaw is due to the audience's Great Expectations:expecting too much from Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor's first on screen appearance together as a couple. expecting the perfect adaptation of a classic novel (come on, it never happens!).Yes, the film does have some issues and valid criticism, but it isn't as bad as people make it seem. I personally would have liked more scenes between Noor and Firdaus (as children and as adults) to strengthen the love story. Perhaps integrating the video from the song "Pashima" into the film and developing further the dance routine would have added the edge needed to make the love obsession more believable and overall more gripping. What I particularly appreciated on my second viewing was Firdaus's point of view. Her family background, especially her mother's bad judgment in love, justifies her apparent cold behaviour and calculated decisions. The social difference between the two main characters is evident from the start with Kaif and Kapoor's incredible look alike younger selves. Firdaus's outfits and jewellery give her an aura of perfection and unreachability. Whereas Noor's simple and traditional clothing places him in the lower classes.***SPOILERS***I also liked how the obsessed Noor tries his best to win her over: attains social acclaim with wealth and fortune and tries his utmost to be with her. Yet at the end it is HER searching for him. The two lovers meet; just the two of them. No onlookers, no dancing, no fireworks, no grand speech professing their love. Just the two of them amidst the peacefulness of the Kashmiri snowy landscape in contrast with the chaotic lifestyle of Delhi. The struggle and indecision to be together is finally put to an end with this long awaited reunion.I recommend watching Fitoor as it is, without Great Expectations, and you will enjoy it.

Fitoor - obsession or in this case obsessive love .....This could have been a really good movie .... except that Katrina Kaif cant act for nuts. Aditya Roy Kapur is the producers brother :) , he was okay. However the greatest drawback was that the story dragged and did not string together cohesively. The saving grace is Tabu who did a great job in her role, as always. And of course the stunning scenery. I thought it was shot in Kashmir too but apparently not.The best scene in my opinion was when the father comes to bail out his son. The depth of the unconditionally loving parent-child relationship is beautifully conveyed in that scene.Fitoor had the potential to have been a better film, but anyway it is worth a watch when it comes on TV.

I was really hesitant in buying the movie tickets after reading such negative reviews. However since I really admire the lead actors in this movie, I went to watch it anyway.I won't say I regret it. Nor would I say it was the best movie out there. But it's definitely something worth watching. One has to be really patient during this movie. You can not expect great momentum from it. It is a little slow at times, and the other times way too quick for the audience to even realize what exactly happened. The lead actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif could've probably done better, as some people are already saying. However without being biased I personally think that this is definitely one of the best performances in their career. On the other hand Tabu's performance was fantastic! But again, she is a senior actor and has a lot of experience in the industry. So I guess we need to be mindful of that before comparing her with Aditya & Katrina. The failure of this movie can not be entirely blamed on the lead actors. I think the director also somewhere lacked in narrating the true story & incidents appropriately. The screenplay needed a lot of improvement. But really good job on editing and production design! In a nutshell, I would say that do not undermine this movie due to its slow pace. It is a great story at the end of the day, and its more than worth watching.

Film is based on Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, written & directed by Abhishek Kapoor. Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina are in the lead as Noor and Firdaus respectively. Tabu is playing the role of Begum and mother of Firdaus. Ajay Devgn, Lara Dutta & Aditi Rao Hydari have cameos in this film. Story is set in Kashmir. While Noor was about thirteen years old, he fell in love with Firdaus, a daughter of a rich Begum of Kashmir. When Firdaus was sent to London for further studies, Noor became artist by heart. As we all know that loosing the game of love will surely do something for you if you know how to dill with it. So heart broken person Noor has now became an artist, a passionate painter. He was sent to Delhi by his client where he again met Firdaus. Both of them fell in love with each other this time. But as per experiences, Tabu was strictly against this type of true love. So, separation happened once again in the life of Noor-Firdaus. Will they meet again is the question which will be cleared till the end. Story has many flows. But, missing factor of Fitoor is soul. I was not able to connect myself to the movie. Though somehow I felt that this was something like what was happened to me. But, talking about the point of view of the audience, the film is dull. Only Tabu's character is something to watch, even her younger version which was played by Aditi Rao Hydari, has the main root of the film. As I was wondering that what was the role of Tabu, means was she a negative character or not! This query get solved in post interval part during the presence of Aditi. So that the one part I liked the most is this one. Aditya Roy Kapoor is as usual. Katrina is as usual dumb. She has no expressions at all. Lara Dutta is good. Ajay is okay. Aditi is superb in her small role. Tabu is the one woman army of Fitoor. Costumes and sets are gigantic. Kashmir looks as always beautiful. But, my mind is continuously comparing this Kashmir with the Kashmir of Haider. Sometimes it was also comparing Noor with Rockstar's Jordan. Even, Abhishek Kapoor was also compared by Vishal Bhardwaj. May be that's why, I may not like this film. Because Vishal is at the top. Nobody can touch that line. So, I'm confuse what to say about the direction. Dialogues are fabulous. Yes, after Tabu, this is the second plus point of the film. Music is the third and last plus point. Yeh Fitoor Mera and Pashmina are so much soulful song. Lyrics have been written by Swanand Kirkire. Background score is also good. On the whole, if you are just going for a valentine date, then don't go for this. If you are going for something new to watch than only you can go for it. But, it is up to you, you have to made a choice to watch it or not, because I'm not saying anything. It's in Hindi and Urdu language, so lack of knowledge may also disappoint you. Yeh Fitoor Nahi Aasaan...
