Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
... View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
... View MoreThis movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
... View MoreOne of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
... View MoreWell, this is not academy awards material, but it is a movie that will make you feel good. Essentially it has a plot, some European product placement, lots of cameos, but the best part are the winter sports scenes. There is a competition going on and three half siblings need to overcome their differences to win the main prize against professionals, and they go to this gorgeous winter resort, and participate in very extreme sports (whose scenes are real footage and stunts, no tricks or special effects). There is a combination of adventure, comedy, action and documentary. If wish there were sequelsIt is all cheesy, tacky, the acting is passable, but the best word to describe this film is : fun. I guarantee that you will have a great time if you choose to watch it.
... View MoreFirstly, I must admit that my rating is based on pure bias. I've been watching this film on habitual repeat since I was a kid and I never get tired of it.The plot lacks severely, some of the humour fails to make its mark and we are "treated" to a rather terrible song performed by one of the actors mid-way. Oh and Roger Moore seemed to be just there for... well, I don't know why he was there. But forget all that. None of it's important. Why, if it's so bad, do I keep watching it? Let's start with the soundtrack - an amazing selection of songs that you can only find on the incredibly rare OST. And then the stunts - a serious amount of awe for the talent of the stunt experts showing off their stuff. I will confess that some of the lame jokes still even rise a laugh from me - as do some of the antics of the teams in the race.So - if you want a fun stunt film with great music, this is an enjoyable watch. Bear in mind that those giving it a low rating have very valid points, but if you have any appreciation for a mindless romp, here it is.
... View MoreGerman comedy starring Roger Moore as a super rich industrialist who stages his own death in order to have his good for nothing children compete against his business partners for his fortune. Amusing up to a point but this is the sort of film you really can?t imagine anyone paying to see. I?m reasonably certain that this never played US theaters rather going straight to TV. Its glitzy, its glamorous and very European. I just wish it was funny. Not bad, as such, this is more the sort of thing that you?ll stumble across when you?re sick in bed and let wash over you rather than finding something more taxing. Fine if you stumble across it and nothing else is on, but otherwise there are better choices out there.
... View MoreSorry for this: I expected Moore... ;)I actually was expecting an action movie when I saw Roger Moore, but it was easy to tell in the first few minutes that this was not a pure action flick. There's plenty of action, but most of it seems like they just let a bunch of (albeit) good skiers, kayakers, parasailers, etc. go nuts while they filmed. The plot was a bit weak for allowing this kind of action to go on.The biggest disappointment though was the comedy. In places it was way too much and other places seemed to not go far enough.Anyway, it's worth a watch if you're an extreme athlete or like some cool stunts, but definitely not a keeper in my movie collection.
