One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

*Spoiler/plot- Final Days of Planet Earth, 2006, An end-of-days-story with an archaeologist discovers that aliens posing a local Govt officials are harvesting the citizens to take over the planet.*Special Stars- Daryl Hannah, Gil Bellows, Campbell Scott *Theme- Humanity is temporary owner's of planet Earth, the bugs are coming.*Trivia/location/goofs- TV movie, Canadian flag in some Govt building shots when plot supposedly taking place in Northwestern USA.*Emotion- A rather crazy film with the low-key dramatic situations but somewhat saved by the rest of the film's good horror pacing. It looked like this film was 'cashing-in' on the era's "Alien" bug-like film genre. Ms. Hannah as the queen insect alien is a little interesting. It's a very bad film and a waste of the starring actor's talents.

I found the DVD of this one for a dollar at a Pawn Exchange, saw the terrible cover, and thought, this looks like a horrible movie... I wonder why Darryl Hannah is in it? Could it be it was actually good? Could it be satirical? Is Darryl Hannah really in it? And why does she look like a bug monster on the cover of the DVD, if it's supposed to be a surprise? And why was the DVD only a dollar? How long had they been trying to sell it? Why had somebody pawned it for a quarter, and never come back to get it back? How bad could it be? I decided to find out. So I bought it, stuck it on a shelf and forgot about it.So tonight I felt like watching a really bad movie, found it and watched it. It was funny, it was so bad it was fun to watch. Darryl Hannah looked like she was having fun being in a ridiculous movie for the first half or so, then like she just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. I love the plot holes, the characters who make no sense at all and have no reason to be in the movie, the plot twists (like the shopping trip to buy the knives) that make no sense and have nothing to do with the story, the long meandering scenes about used car salesmen and bird watchers, the aliens who die for no reason when you chop their claws off, the characters who get giant bug larvae stuffed down their throats, the dialogue trying to explain in a bad meandering way what we just saw on the screen, the long scenes in which women sit around talking about scarves, the pointless scenes like the burrowing thing on the moon in the beginning that makes lots of noise in a vacuum, the bad sets and bad CGI. Others have pointed out some of the plot holes.... to me they're the best part. I did like the line about aliens who put on their humans one leg at a time... I have to wonder if the actor ad libbed it, or if it was the one good line that survived when a committee butchered a good script, when it was being made. All of it was fun and ridiculous. I liked the hero tossing aside Darryl Hannah's host body instead of trying to save her after the alien bug thing jumped out of her skin. I loved the alien bus driver who stopped to let on an old lady passenger for no reason, while abducting the heroes. I loved the couple from Eastern Europe who had nothing whatsoever to do with the story and no reason to be in it, and ended up playing no role in the action. I loved the crazy interviews with the actors on the DVD in which they tried to respond seriously about serious questions about where there were really bug-like aliens running around on earth plotting to destroy the human race. I think there are, and I think they made this movie.

I would have rated this 'movie' a 1, but it did make me laugh, so I was lenient. I am an avid Sci-Fi lover, so I stuck it out and watched the whole thing.I read all of the other comments that were here before I placed this comment. I agree with all of the comments about lack of plot, continuity and acting, so there's no point in me repeating them. ************ POSSIBLE SPOILER HERE ************** My greatest laugh from the movie was when the 'kryptonite astronaut' said about the human shells that the aliens wore: "They're just bugs, they put their humans on one leg at a time". I really cracked up at that one. ************* END OF SPOILER ********************I used to go to Sci-Fi conventions when I was in college and make fun of the zombie movies during the films, I would have had no problem doing the same for this one. Only watch this if you have NOTHING else to do!

The plot makes no sense. The characters are random at best. The things people say and do have no grounding in reality. Darryl Hannah and others blink (a lot). No, contrary to some reviewers you will not necessarily like this if you like 50's sci fi movies or whatever. It just is a terrible movie. Here are some things that entertained me about the movie: Walker lighting a match next to the eggs with no explosion and then being able to throw a match down from 20 feet into the same area (match stays lit!) and kaboom a giant flame shoots up. Bystanders are heard screaming because of the explosion and then no-one pays any attention and goes on about their business-ridiculous!Sealing the ground with concrete after a man has sunk down in it and disappeared, sparking a rescue operation-ridiculous!Sitting in a waiting room waiting to see someone and getting suspicious because of all the mysterious things: 1)everyone has a note that says "give first consideration to this candidate" 2)the receptionist doesn't blink-ridiculous!Sticking a stun gun in someones face because they offer you a tip after you inspect their house for pests-ridiculous!Giving someone your phone number and "home address" in case they want to contact you-ridiculous!Walker going to city hall and asking the city engineer why he can't get permission to "continue his dig" after it's been sealed with concrete (and a man is in there dead and lost) and the city engineer says he'll try to get him permission-and to give him a couple of days-ridiculous!Honestly I couldn't continue to watch something that made no sense-especially in the beginning, where the plot was non-existent and it was just a bunch of random scenes thrown together. This is not the worst movie I have ever seen, as it is somewhat elevated by the fact that it is a science fiction movie and I love science fiction, but the fact is that it is just not watchable. Read a book instead.
