Such a frustrating disappointment
... View MoreThis movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
... View MoreI am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
... View MoreGreat movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
... View MoreA group of 4 young men and 3 women decide to take a boat to their favorite island vacation hangout. Once they reach the cabin and settle in members of their group begin to die off one by one. So much for the plot which has been played and replayed numerous times in the past. Even so, this particular film was told in a unique manner which managed to keep the film at least somewhat entertaining. For example, the lone survivor was a woman named "Jenna" (Haylie Duff) who was rescued by the police and suffers from amnesia. So she tells the story in a series of flashbacks. Now, normally when the "flashback technique" is used it tends to take away from the mystery of the film. Fortunately, this wasn't the case as there were many unexpected twists and turns as the story evolved. There isn't much horror or suspense. Neither was there any gratuitous sex or nudity. The acting was mediocre, the dialogue was weak and the special effects were nowhere to be seen. But the mystery keeps it together long enough for an unexpected ending which manages to tie everything up rather nicely. In short, if you're looking for an exciting horror film then you might be disappointed. All things considered I rate is as average.
... View MoreNow I have seen many reviews that have trashed this movie and if I had looked at the reviews before i watched the movie, I would have refrained from doing so. But I watched it and I liked it. This movie is different from other horror movies because it is in the perspective of after the killings. The main character tells us what happened as she is questioned by the police. This, already, was very cool to me and peaked my interest. Some people say the acting was terrible. Now this is my opinion but i have never had that problem with other movies and I thought the acting was fine. Haylie Duff was great with what she was given and when she had to act upset, I think she pulled it off. Lucy Hale is one of my favorite actress and she was good so as for the acting, I think it is up to the viewer but I liked it. Now let's get to the ending, I will not spoil anything because that would irritate me had I read the reviews. The ending some may say is predictable and stupid but I did not see it coming nor did i think it was stupid and I think it made the movie so much better. I would like to say avoid what the reviews say, but that would mean that you should not listen to me which is not what I mean at all. I think you should watch it yourself because it is a very good movie and not to judge it so quickly.
... View MoreFor some odd reason I like things that take place on deserted islands. J.J. Abrams has showed us that there are so many ways to go and that the possibilities are endless, but to be honest I didn't expect much from this film. As it turns out, Haylie Duff isn't a bad actress and Fear Island wasn't a bad movie! This film was exciting, engaging, smart, and pretty well written. Many parts of the story, especially the ending were predictable; however it was still a great story. Fear Island is one of those movies you watch because it appears in your instant recommendations and there isn't anything else to watch, so you give it a chance, and what you find is that it's actually a pretty worthwhile film.
... View More(Contains spoilers) Unless im missing something here everyone involved in this movie did not give any effort to solving the so called mystery. The script does not work in anyway unless you decide not to do things that anyone trying to solve a case would do. They had a picture of the believed "Meghan" all along and were able to see that Jenna(Duff) and Ashton never dated. So why were they not able to verify anyones true identity. Were there no school photos or anything to look at and see that someone is not who they say they are. If they were able to get a headshot of "meghan" was there no name attached to it. I mean they simply just listened to a crazy girls story without trying to verify anyones identity. The only way the movie works is if you believe that there was no way to verify anyones true identity and not find peoples true family connections. They were able to find Jennas parents but couldn't find the real sister. The whole movie makes no sense and they basically just sat around and listened to a girl talk and then let her go. It was a bad movie with an unbelievable plot.
