I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.

Your blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.

One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.

Kajol and Aamir have to be the absolute best choices for the main characters of this movie as their acting is spot on and they make a great pair together in the story line. Not your typical Hindi love story where the guy and girl are annoyed with each other at first. They hit is off in the beginning but the story takes a radical twist in the middle and is non-stop on the edge mystery and drama to the end from there. Supporting rolls by Rishi Kapoor and Kirron Kher are spot on (who doesn't love their acting?). Tabu's roll is a bit mediocre and doesn't add much to the story, but it is a smaller role anyways so there is no time to develop her character. A quick pop in by Laura Dutta doesn't add much either and is a bit weird feeling like a quick add to the script. The ending is a surprise and ties up the story nice and neat. The music is pretty good, though the only dance scene that stands out is by Kajol as she performs on stage for an audience (brilliant song and brilliant lyrics). Though not exactly a dude movie, there is a good story to keep any guy enjoying this flick. A good couples movie and a must see classic for any Hindi film fan.

I was very impressed by the music of the film which leads me to see this film excited as I was the film falls straight down hill from the word go...Pathetic film, poor acing, poor screenplay! ordinary paces movie, amir khan couldn't do justice to the negative character! The Amir kajol chemistry is no where to amir SRK chemistry! The 2nd half is incredibly predictable, with the child rehan too bad in acting! the movie cashed in only for its hype, the foolish amir khan fans may go and waste their time and money to watch this crap! even Hrithik's Main Prem ki Diwani hoon is better than this!

Aamir Khan is a perfectionist but sometimes his films aren't that good for e.g. MANGAL PANDEY, FANAAFANAA has a good plot but the film is too clichédThe first half is too long, boringthe entire shayari bit and the love story is damn clichédThe interval point raises expectations but the way Aamir kills people in the snow.etc is too much but yet forgiven The film drags in the second half too and scenes get boring but yet the entire Aamir- Kajol track in the 2nd half is handled well even the climax but Rishi's death scene is too funnyDirection by Kunal Kohli is good in parts overall bad Music is good the only problem was DES RANGILA as Kajol danced like a girl who could seeAamir acts very well as the smooth operator and his helplessness is well handled by him but in the first half as the romantic lover he tends to be annoying and looks too old Kajol is good in her part in the second half and emotes very well though her role is too childish in first halfAmongst rest Shruti is good Rishi is excellent in his part, Kirron Kher is okay the child is alright Shiny is wasted

'Fanaa' is at best worth one watch. But, what makes 'Fanaa' watchable is Aamir Khan and Kajol, both of who rise above the limitations of the script and show glimpses of their histrionic genius. But the movie offers nothing stellar, nothing extraordinary The main fault of 'Fanaa' happens to be its script. The shayari in the first half is a bit overdone. Even the dialogues are a bit too filmi than real. And in the second half, the lines given to Kajol's son are poorly written, ineffective and lack subtlety. Kunal Kohli has not been able to extract a performance out of the child artist and most of the sequences involving him end up looking superficial.Kajol's performance is particularly superb.Aamir, as expected, delivers a noteworthy performance. On the sidelines, Kiron Kher and Rishi Kapoor are natural. Tabu's dialogue delivery has a hint of her Hyderabadi background, and that is a downer. Lara Dutta and Shiny Ahuja appear in cameos of few seconds.
