A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

This movie is budget garbage. The glowing reviews are there to make you waste your time and money. Some people find joy in other's misery. Only after you see the movie will you laugh out loud when you read the 10 star reviews. I didn't waste much time but brought out my guitar and silently practiced finger movement on the fret board while watching. This is one nasty sleeping pill from leftwing Europe, detached from reality and common sense. So bad it felt like the work of a madman. I think the actors even thought, "WTF..."

The parallels to "Moon" with Sam Rockwell as a malfunctioning and unaware clone are pretty straightforward. The script operates within the limits of hard science fiction although the Europa 1 spacecraft has high ceilings and interior space that would be the envy of most Manhattan apartment dwellers. Both movies unfold quietly with expertly timed revelations that don't feel like the narrative manipulations they clearly are. Other than the realistic set feeling like a sound stage, the rest of both films feel nearly as realistic as Katherine Champion's "The Hurt Locker". The less obvious comparison here, however, is to Spielberg's original "Jaws". We only received glimpses of Bruce the Shark largely because the mechanical rig didn't work. However, the ominous, lurking, suggested but unseen presence of the eventual creature raises the suspense factor more than all the industrial- sized puppets or CGI ever could. The cast does tend to blend together a bit and the dialog lacks spark and wit but the elegant and rhythmic storytelling makes up for much of the shortcomings. In short, well worth the view.

Small budget, somewhat amateur-feeling film, the visuals for which I felt fluctuated between being OK, and at other times, sub-TV standard.Sadly I felt the plot was also a bit dull and uneventful throughout. Factor in also that the dialogue was unmemorable, and the characters and performances nothing special too... and you get the idea. For me this was nowhere near the level set by "Moon", (itself only quite good), never mind anywhere near the greats; e.g. 2001 or Interstellar. In fairness the last 1-2 minutes was not bad. That's the only real positive I can offer. In summary I'm sure the makers had good intentions, but it shows how difficult sci-fi is to produce without a great core idea, large financial backing to realise your concepts, and perhaps a creative genius in charge of direction and production. Sorry!

The first half of the film seemed unnecessarily confusing (did not need use as many time jumps). But when the plot begins to settle down and go filling in the gaps, we find a great movie very attached to scientific guidelines we know so far. This film gives us a chilling trip into one of the most striking Jupiter's moons. Note that the characters are not very attractive. However the story unfolds in a captivating environment full of mysteries. Most notable are the images so well achieved Jupiter and its moons. This film is a journey that every lover of science and astronomy should do.
