After the previous events, the first thing Rue does when saying goodbye to Jules at the train station is get high. Nate has made her believe that her friend abandons her and that she will never be able to escape the spiral of self-destruction by becoming a drug addict with no future. Rue collapses again, making the same mistake, now she has no one or no reason to save her from drugs.
