Eternal tells the tale of the second most well-known vampire, who has his or her origins in real historical people. In this case that person is Countess Elizabeth Báthory, a Hungarian noblewoman who reputedly bathed in the blood of beautiful virgin women in order to keep her youth. And like Dracula in many stories, she has survived to the modern day, hiding in the shadows cast by the world of man.Unfortunately, just like many other vampire movies, it's not all that great. Mainly because of the poor quality of the script and the actors. Both are obviously doing their best, but it's not enough and the harsh reality that you're watching a movie always shines through. The story also never rises above clichéd murder mystery and the needless change to exotic locations feels more like pandering and following the dotted line than it feels like an actual way to move the story forward. The biggest problems however is that the story is dull. It has no bite behind it, no soul that would hook you in. And frankly that might have been avoided if they had had the guts to make an honest N-17 film. And I'm not saying that just because I want to see more naked ladies - although I do. But the original story itself is heavy with sexual themes, many many horrible murders and the utter corruption of a mortal woman. To put it another way, look at the cover of the film and tell me that it wouldn't feel more at home in a N-17 movie. That way the film would at least have more crunch to arouse the interest of its audience. All that being said, I've seen worse vampire films in my lifetime. The actors are not very good, but they're not horrible. The script is lackadaisical, but it's trying. There is some good imagery, the sets are nice and I don't regret seeing it.

Is she in another films? Anyone know anything about her? She is the most gorgeous of the gorgeous in this film...too bad her part was so small in this film, I would have liked to have seen more of her. I love French girls! I have watched this movie a few times now and although it is not a masterpiece by far, it is entertaining. I suggest you go out and rent this movie. Anyone caring to share on the above, please do so.I would love to meet some of the cast some day.So cute, that Renaud's secretary....Agree?

I really don't see why so many people hated this film.First off for a low-budget Canadian horror/sensual vampire film it's really good. It's done a lot more tastefully than say some of the so-called erotic vampire films that are shown on say Cinemax. Also,it's about Elizabeth Bathory, a huge part of Vampire Mythology, who other than the way cool Hammer Film from 1970 "Countess Dracula" where the always way cool buxom Ingrid Pitt bathed & drank young virgin blood, there is only this 2nd film Eternal, about her. And,she's almost as big a part of the Vampire folklore as Dracula/Vlad The Impaler. I've heard Julie Deply'starring/directing a film called Bathory about her as well for 2007 release. I don't know these actors as they are Canadian actors mainly, but Caroline Neron was sexy & quite convincing as Elizabeth Kane, the woman who may be either the re-incarnation of Ms Bathory or may-be she is actually her & over 400 yrs old! This film leaves that open to your interpretation. The guy who played the detective was hot, as I really liked his sex scenes as he has a intensity that made it quite hot for us women out there & there is plenty of stylishly done girl on girl seductions with murder added in & blood drinking. Also,i liked the no fangs part, as Ms bathory wasn't Dracula & actually at one time lived, 7 would need a knife or syringe of a sort to bleed her victims to feed & to bathe in their blood. *** out of *****

This film opens with a, ehm, sexual bang. This beautiful woman awkwardly meets this other beautiful woman in this giant mansion. Beauty #2 seduces #1 and... well, the rest is eternity, so to speak. Problem is, beauty #1 happens to be this cop's wife. He is this renegade kind of guy, who plays by his own rules. Total stereotype. And, by the way this all takes place in Canada. And, also, this film has a very strong sexual theme to it. Lots of action, guy and girl and girl and girl. I would hesitate to call this film a vampire movie. And there is plenty of blood, and some suspense. And erotica. However, this movie is shot wonderfully. The imagery and cinematics are worth seeing. Lush color, symmetrical camera shots, and nothing else is missed. It is quite beautiful. Yet.. the rest is hokey in some aspects.
