Pretty Good
... View MoreAbsolutely the worst movie.
... View MoreI didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
... View MoreThis is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
... View MoreThe film begins with a very impressive display of weaponry skills by none other than Sho Kosugi in full Ninja uniform, including sai, shinobi-gatana, tonfa, nunchaku, manriki {bola}, blowgun, shiroken, bow & arrow, and spear-staff. Blend into white ninja {color indicative of novice/apprentice} amidst the wilderness undergoing his final "law of the jungle" test until recognized as full Ninja calibre; he is attacked by several red ninjas on his way back to the dojo, expertly defending himself until facing the Shidoshi himself, shockingly beheading him before entering in for judgment."Enter The Ninja" was released during the latter part of the martial arts pop-fascination of the 70's and early 80's, and distinguished itself by presenting Ninpo principles such as the afore-mentioned Kuji-Kiri, indigenous weaponry and some techniques, all under the expert supervision of Sho Kosugi, an actual Ninpo practitioner, who along with Frank Dux, earned some ire from traditionalists in the old country, but did manage to add an enhanced perspective on this enigmatic historical character known as Ninja. Although, the film is long in the tooth and features way too much plot, but the film does deliver a decent amount of butt-kicking and several cheesy moments that will get giggles of joy from bad movie fans. The last half is far more interesting than the first; the action scenes are competently done, though it's obvious Golan was not the action director Firstenberg was.Overall rating: 7 out of 10.
... View MoreWhen I have heard of this film on the Electric Boogaloo, I saw Franco Nero as the Main Ninja, I was like, wait, The guy from Companeros and Die Hard 2 is in this, and got me very excited. And finally watching this movie, and for some reason, It started to come the similar story from Bruce Lee's Way of the Dragon where Tang Lung (Bruce Lee) comes to Rome to help a woman (Nora Miao) to keep her restaurant going around from the mafia offering her to sell it, while this is about where a Oil company's businessman tries to buy a large property where Cole's friend owns. I assume Menahem Golan must've have seen Way of the Dragon and copy the same story onto Enter The Ninja. Although this is a great film directed by Golan, with a campy, laughable music where it's audio music quality is in the styles of a James Bond film.
... View More"Enter the Ninja" is the first of the trilogy. The other two are Sam Firstenberg's "Revenge of The Ninja", and "Ninja III: The Domination".Franco Nero plays white ninja and Sho Kosugi plays black ninja.Nero is helping a husband and wife try to stop the trouble gangs are causing where they live(in Phillipines)."Enter the Ninja" is a very cheesy martial arts flick with plenty of bloody violence. The weapons of ninja include sai,shinobi-gatana,tonfa,nunchaku,manriki,blowgun,shiroken,bow and arrow and spear-staff.The use of smoke bombs is also quite effective.Despite the violence the film is often light-hearted and quite humorous. The final showdown between Nero and Kosugi is truly memorable.7 ninjas out of 10.
... View MoreBack in the old days they did make some great action movies and Enter the ninja is one of them. The plot is simple and efficient. Cole (Nero) after mastering ninjitsu visits his friend Frank (Alex Courtney) in the Philippines. Frank and his gutsy wife (Susan George) are being oppressed by the local oil tycoon Charles Venarius (Christopher George) who wants to get hold of their land at all costs. What happens next probably won't be hard to guess. Above all this movie is very impressive for its' memorable characters - we had here Siegfried 'The Hook', Dollars, Mr. Parker. I think there's no need to say that Christopher George shined in this film to say the least. And his death scene at the end is really something. Well, and of course Franco Nero did a marvelous job playing ninja. And Sho Kosugi gets the credit not only for brilliantly playing the negative role but also for masterfully directing the fighting scenes. It's one of those movies that when watching you might want to partially go over again, I'm telling you, it's very spectacular.
