Embrace of the Vampire Trailers

Sharon Hinnendael stars as Charlotte, a timid and sheltered teen who has just left an all-girls Catholic school for a new life at a co-ed university. But an ancient evil has followed her here, tormenting her with disturbing nightmares and tempting her with forbidden desires. It is a hunger that can only be satiated by sensual pleasures of the flesh...and a thirst for blood. It's a battle for her soul... and one she's losing. But Charlotte is a fighter. The chaos and torment threatens to unleash her own inner beast, and anyone even close to her may find themselves embracing their own horrific fate.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

The film opens with a 1735 Bulgarian vampire scene, then switches to modern times. Charlotte (Sharon Hinnendael) attends North Summit University. She hails from an all girl Catholic school. She is pale, virginal, has a blood disease, and is socially inept. She is despised by the fencing team captain (Olivia Cheng), but is loved by Chris (Ryan Kennedy) Sarah (Chelsey Reist) and her fencing instructor (Victor Webster) who all want in her pants. Charlotte is clearly our dysfunctional Buffy who also suffers from hallucinations, bad dreams, and a gypsy (Keegan Connor Tracy) who needs to talk to her.The vampire aspect is small. We don't find out who the vampire is until an hour into the film. Most of the film centers around Charlotte, her job, her hazing, and her locker room discussions. The film has gratuitous nudity which includes a stripping/drinking hazing scene as well as some girl/girl action that would be classified as soft core porn.Perv Guide: F-bomb, sex, blond girl/blond girl action, nudity (Sharon Hinnendael, Kaniehtiio Horn, C.C. Sheffield, Chelsey Reist + others) 3 stars for the nudity.

A straight-to-video Canadian vampire film, set in a high school, with its main character a former Catholic schoolgirl who finds herself venturing down some very dark alleyways as she becomes drawn to some characters who may or may not be bloodsuckers. EMBRACE OF THE VAMPIRE is the remake of a 1990s film starring Martin Kemp that I haven't watched, and suffice to say it's almost entirely worthless as a movie.Vampire films are so ubiquitous these days (much like zombie movies) that they have to be really special to stand out. Unsurprisingly this isn't special at all, and instead it's content to play out all the usual vampire clichés alongside sappy love scenes and some poor CGI vampire effects. The uncut version of this movie is by all accounts chock full of nudity and sleaze, but the version I watched was the cable export in which all the nudity has been censored. Not that ample nudity would save this silly softcore attempt to frighten audiences with its bad acting and overwhelming clichés.

This movie couldn't really be called a remake of the film that starred Alyssa Milano in the 90s. Other than cast names one could only say it was inspired by the original. I saw someone mention the actress who played Charlotte acting like Kristen Stewart. This simply is not true. The girl was suffering from night terrors, ancestral memory flashbacks and delusions or waking dreams as they were referred to in the movie. She was traumatized not knowing what was real and what was not. She was on medications and had no living family and had been in a Catholic school, not to mention she was a virgin. She got a scholarship for fencing and this was why she was in college. She had reverted into herself and was extremely shy. The only thing negative I have to say about it was too many sex scenes. They were not needed. The story was a little hard to follow and most of the explanation came from the Gypsy lady or I assumed that was what she was by the way she portrayed her character. If you are looking for something that goes bump in the night you won't find that in this movie or the original which was more of a paranormal romance. It is about a girl trying to figure out what is happening to her, getting hazed by the fencing team because she was the newbie and trying to come to grips with her predicament. She didn't understand what was happening to her. They could have clarified more about her background and why she was taking meds. It was obvious but we don't see how these flashbacks and hallucinations begin and what the professionals were telling her since she was taking drugs. It's like she was just sort of dropped off at the school and you had to piece together what it all means. This is a B movie to me and a good one for that class. If you are looking for a 30 Days of Night type of a movie, you won't find it in this one. It's not the worst movie because I have watched many but just not an A list movie. It really would depend on your taste but I think it is one that should be watched more than once to get everything because of all the flashbacks and hallucinations in the film.

So this is apparently a remake of some soft core porno, you know the industry stooped low when they are remaking porn. This movie is very boring, maybe it has to do with the one dimensional characters that ooze blandness every time I see them. Maybe it's to do with the fact that the first hour doesn't make any sense. Charlotte has issues, yeah okay. Maybe it has something to do with the WTF Pre credits scene, all I know is the film jumps back and forth between reality and dream land. All that I got out of this film is college is a pretty gross place, the women are like some torture masters. They haze fresh-mens by forcing them to strip and drink hard liquor, and if they don't comply, they are beaten. And if that's not the worst part, Charlotte is molested by some lesbian rapist, this right here showcases the soft core source material, that and about a dozen other sex and nude scenes. Then she's got this pervert co-worker breathing down her neck, he gets touchy feely and even stalks her. At this point the film showcases how unlikable all of the characters are. So Charlotte succumbs to the basic human need for sex, and lets Chris(her co worker) do the deed. But he gets killed before he can do it, was I supposed to care, I'll admit I laughed a little. At this point in the film it's pretty much twilight with all the love and BS drama between the girls and boys. So when will this end, oh another 20 minutes, I'll just skip to the end. And that's it, she kills the vampire and has a good cry, because she is going to be the new vampire, or something like that. It's a terrible film straight from Canada, I knew that before the credits ended, it had a Canadian feel to it. I gave it a 1 out of 10, more so because it wasted my time, every thing about it is bad, and it's just a bland and uninteresting story. Gunga Gee Ga Gunga, as Elpresador would say, it's terrible people.
