East Side Story Trailers

This 1988 cult classic was an urban musical comedy set in the gritty gregarious barrio of The Bronx. Written by ERIC FLOYD, who also co-starred in it as the over-the-top madcap showman & choreographer; 'Razz (w/outrageous hair design by the incomparable styist to the stars on his 1st movie gig & star client, GERARD DURE')'; this film also holds the distinction of having been cast by ERIC FLOYD as well, who discovered & theatrically trained young yet still enduring Latin stars, most notably among them but not limited to the theatrical debut of Puerto Rican superstar, MARC ANTHONY. The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

I remember the promotional posters for this movie all across record stores in New york city. I was so looking forward to seeing it, but then it disappear never to be hear of again -yes the movie is corny and poorly made, looks like it was filmed with a hand-held video camera. But regardless, i had a ball watching it as did a few friends of mine. Don't expect anything spectacular, because you will be disappointed. I got such a kick seeing our favorite freestyle artists back in the mid 80's was so much fun! cameos by India, Safire, Nayobe and a few others. if you were a teenager in the era of freestyle, no matter what part of the country you lived in, you may appreciate this movie. I have this movie and ever so often when I need to take a trip back to 1988, i pop it in and laugh at all the silliness this movie is.

surely not an award-winner ,but still not a dud. poor directing from the first minutes; actors( or so-called) try to do their best but the lame story cannot really make up for many drawbacks. it is not really boring nor engrossing except for musical moments which are enjoyable, as a true energy stems from dancers and singers, as long as you enjoy latin freestyle and salsa. sa-fire looks like a modern carmen miranda and marc antony is still a teenager. i watched it in a French dubbed version and it surely hindered my comment.
