DPRK: The Land Of Whispers Trailers

"Land of Whispers" invites you to visit arguably the most unique and isolated travel destination in the world - not to criticize, but to observe and listen. Aside from usual highlights such as Pyongyang or Arirang, this unique one-man documentary brings you to areas such as Chongjin or Wonson, still virtually unknown to even google or wikipedia. There, I attempt to pierce through the ever-present 'national mythology' and as much as possible, I try to connect with people - such as the waitress mesmerized by tablet computers, or a tour guide cautiously fascinated by modern pop culture.

The maker of this "documentary" spends pretty much the whole time he is in North Korea, trying to undermine his host nation. He is doing what he is genetically hardwired to do: Infiltrate a nation; then destroy it from within. Termites would be a good example. So would a common parasite - they attach themselves to a host; and then eventually destroy the host before the host can destroy the parasite. So anyway; avoid this film at all costs. Cheers

This was the best documentary that I have ever watched on North Korea. The narrator is unbiased and gives the viewer a very realistic view of the DPRK. Most current information on the DPRK is generally western-produced, biased and in many cases, uneducated. This film avoids many of these problems by being independently produced, and filmed by a person who was very unbiased when enter I g the country. There is very little interaction with the local population which may seem disappointing, but it shows the amount of secrecy in the country (as noted in the title North Korea is "land of whispers"). The film accomplishes a lot in its short one hour run time, such as giving a brief history of the nation, local views and a totally North Korean experience. Overall I would rate this the best Documentary on North Korea and possibly the best documentary in general. 10/10
