Sadly Over-hyped

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

This was probably the 4th or fifth Russian feature to be shot in Agfacolor, under the name magic color. Hard working farmers and their hired hands take a break and have a good time at the fair. The big farmers Galina and cossack Gordie have been in love with each other for years but have denied those feelings cause of long standing conflict. Mean while all the farm workers are having a good time at the fair. One of the workers is Gordies ,dauhgter from earlier marriage. is participating on the peasants revue with other workers who are dancers.She is in love with one of Gordies horse riders . When Galina and Gordies meet up they start to act civilized then quarrel a bit. Gordie discovers his daughter interest in one of his horse riders and tries to talk her out of getting married to him that night. Later on Galina decides to get together with Gorie at the show for a date. Well, after the show she meets some other friend and jilts him to go with the other at the dance. He stars to drink at the dance. Then beg her to dance with him she rejects. The next day during the horse race, Gordies daughter's boy friend is running in one of the races. Once he wins , Goried goes up to him for a talk and excepts him as his daughters fiancé . In the mean time Gordies in a horse race using a with two wheel seat and harness with Galina. As they take off she starts to beat him but he ends beating her . Finally after the race he goes after her and decides to propose to her. I gave it a 9 because at the end it show the Galins and Gordie coming up to the farm in a 49 car ,than the horse and buggy, to greet fellow workers and say good bye to movie audience which throws the characters a bit off. Other than that it's a good movie
