It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

I have rented two different DVDs covering this 29.Nov.2002 event. I have been bowled over by all of it, with only a few minor exceptions.I have always thought that the George-Harrison-written songs were, by far, the best of the Beatles' big catalog, and his solo career song-writing and performing after the breakup of that seminal group need take a back seat to no one. These DVDs prove my hypothesis. Exhibit A. No other evidence required, in any court of musical fame. These are truly GREAT!Spoiler: I was aggravated at the appearance of the female backup vocalists in this event. They seemed to be vying for Self-Aggrandizing-Tart-Of-The-Year honors. The men were, for the most part, understated and played as a team, as befitted this Tribute for a deceased great musician; almost all performed without intrusive egos. Some of the women, however: Another story entirely. Sam(antha) Brown performed a knock-out lead vocal on "Horse To The Water" (George Harrison / Dhani Harrison), but her attire was so over-the-top ego-driven in-poor-taste, this definitely detracted from the cut. This, after all, was supposed to be a tribute to Harrison, not a low-brow contest to see which female could dress as close to a night-walker as possible...So, If it weren't for that niggling item, I'd have rated this a ten.Anyway, I'll most likely BUY these DVDs, a drastic step for me. This is because every song just gets better and better every time I watch it.

When the Beatles broke up I was not even born (1978). I was not a Beatles fan until I saw the "Sgt Pepper's". I then saw "Hard Days Night" on PBS during a Beatles' anniversary. I then made The Beatles my favorite group. No offense to McCartney-Lennon who made some good songs but George Harrison was, is and will be my favorite Beatle. It's hard to believe that it will be four years this November. The idea of having some of the greatest musical artists under one roof to sing George's songs is the best idea ever. Eric Clapton is a genius! Dhani Harrison looks like his father. That's beside the point. I thought the "Monty Python" tribute was funny! Especially "The Lumber Jack Song". "Isn't It A Pity" is great. "Here's Comes The Sun" a classic. Ringo singing "Photograph". Paul singing "Something" on the ukulele. You can't forget "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "My Sweet Lord". During "My Sweet Lord" people are standing up dancing in the aisles. "Beware of Darkness" of course is good. "Wah-Wah" everyone is standing at this point. I thought it was historic to have this many musicians and singers play George Harrison's songs. Thank You! It was the best concert on DVD I've watched. Thank You!

I had the opportunity to see a little bit of my friend's copy of Concert for George a while back and I liked what I saw so I went out and bought it. I was not disappointed. All of the songs are solid and most of them are great. The concert is divided into three sections. The first section is Indian music, the second section is Monty Python, and the third section is George Harrison's music. All three sections are worth watching but it is the third section that excels with musicians such as Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, and various others. Some of my favorites are "Here Comes the Sun", "Photograph", "All Things Must Pass", "Wah Wah", and "Handle With Care". However, my absolute favorite is a toss-up between "Something" (performed brilliantly by Clapton and McCartney) and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (a song in which Clapton displays his musical ability and his vocal vulnerability).A great, great concert.9 out of 10

CONCERT FOR GEORGE (2003) ***1/2 FEATURING: Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Ravi Shankar, Joe Brown, Billy Preston, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Tom Hanks; Special Guests: Dhoni & Olivia Harrison. Wonderful tribute concert to music legend George Harrison held at England's Royal Albert Hall one year to the date after his death celebrating The Quiet Beatle with a mélange of his songs with music by his mates and collaborators, rejoicing with warmth and some humor (thanks to a partial Monty Python reunion with 'honorary' member Hanks (!) for 'The LumberJack Song'). A touching tribute to a bonafide genius.(Dir: David Leland)
