... View MoreFrom the start to the last minute I played the movie, I couldn't look away for a once. the track of the story is amazing. I did't feel bored nor did I expect what will happen at the end or during the movie.
... View Morei have never heard about this movie before but today i was surfing the net looking for a good action movie and because i love Korean movies i stumbled upon this great piece of entertainment.the movie starts with a very spectacular heist executed precisely by an armed gang with the supervision of a man that seems like he doesn't wanna get his hands dirty (i was wrong about him) instead he instructs his gang members from an elevated position he is basically the architect of the heist.on the other side a group of high tech police squad that chooses it's recruits carefully as they have to be very brilliant in many aspects in this demanding field and the chase begins in this action packed edge of seat thriller.this movie is simply a chase that lasts like 3 days if i'm not wrong involving followings stakeouts and bugging houses in order to identify the members of the bank robbers as they plan another even more daring heist. the directors kept the same pace through the whole movie in order to give the audience a feel that time is running out or rather a feel of doing something risky and trying to get away with it. they also focused on the Villain of this movie who in my opinion stole the show with his intelligence and fighting skills as he manages to stay one step ahead of the police the entire time.and how can i disregard the brilliant camera-work and the editing that despite the nature of most of the action happening in this movie still manages to capture every single thing. overall this is a great cops and robbers movie with some good thrills and fight scenes. my rating 7.5/10
... View MoreA young woman is tracking somebody through the subways and streets of Seoul, taking care not to be seen but observing everything about, and around, her quarry. She and the man she's following both end up in a restaurant, where the man confronts her - turns out that he's police detective Hwang and that she has been completing the final test required for recruitment to his special surveillance unit. While this is going on, however, another scene is unfolding: a car suddenly explodes in a parking building, creating a diversion that draws all available police personnel while a gang of thieves rob a nearby bank - not only of money, but of specific security boxes. What was taken, and why? And who is the mastermind behind the spectacular robbery? Soon Hwang and his unit, all going by the code names of various animals, find themselves tracking a possible satellite member of the gang, in an attempt to close in on the leader. But that leader is very wily - and very, very dangerous...."Cold Eyes" is a super-charged action movie, with a few big car chases but far more chases on foot, which tend to create much more tension in the audience as you never know if the tracker is going to be caught. Aside from the high stakes in the film, the city of Seoul itself becomes a character, as Detective Hwang and his people use CCTV, computer triangulation and good old maps and feet on the ground to discover, and then track, the movements of various bad guys. For such a high-octane film, there's not a massive amount of blood spilled here, although there is some. This is a fast-paced thriller which will keep the audience on the edge of their seats from start to finish; lots of fun!
... View MoreYou don't have to watch the original, 2007, Eye in the Sky HK movie. But then you won't get the ending cameo.Personally I don't think there will be an sequel. Korean movies are not known for that. Casue the find new materials every time.Sometime they make good remakes, (like this or remake of Japanese "Trains"), sometimes not as so (I heard "A Better Tomorrow" or "White Nights" are not as appealing) Story is about a team of surveillance cops vs. a cold calculated criminal, who can plan, execute and getaway a crime with precision and detail to account for almost everything. On the other side is a rookie with pinpoint memory who is recruited by a weary veteran.Usually I won't waste time trashing a movie if I don't have a long line of reasons to (like the missing science in the Star Trek reboot - but it so bad that is was funny instead). And why waste time/words, effort on a review to trash or to vent if you could have walked out in the first place.Howerver, there is no "real" central focusing character in this setup. I think they didn't want to be completely on the 'rookie' female cop. But added more back story to the villain to carry the load instead. This maybe the weak point for me. It's all very very well-done but lacking some kind of soul. For example, compare to the Howling, The man from Nowhere. But as entertainment, yes. No complaints.
