Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

A single mother gives her son a much sought-after doll for his birthday, only to discover that it is possessed by the soul of a serial killer. Child's Play is pretty interesting on mind and even paper perhaps but on screen? It's definitely lacking in alot of levels especially in terms of horror and having a pretty much great villain as a whole. The perfomances weren't that bad for sure and the special effects were top notch for sure but the movie is way far from being that impressive for me and i'm sorry to say this but it doesn't hold up that well. (5/10)

Favourite Movie Quote: "Hidey-Ho!" Could Child's Play really be a dire message, warning parents about caving into their child's demands, while (at the same time) trying to save themselves a few lousy bucks on the price of a toy?.... I don't know. Maybe it's so.When it comes to the movies (and, yes, the genre of horror, in particular), it sure seems to me that there's definitely nothing new under the sun.A doll (or dummy) taking on a life of its own and then committing unspeakable acts of mayhem and murder goes all the way back to 1945 with Dead Of Night. In this first-rate, supernatural Thriller, Hugo, a ventriloquist's dummy, starts giving its owner/operator some pretty tall orders, which inevitably leads to some mighty deadly business before the show is over.Anyway - As horror movies, in general, go, Child's Play's two assets (the things that kept it from sinking down into the "fright flick" dregs) were its devilishly clever manipulations of the "Chucky" doll, and its overall snarky and, often times, wicked sense of humour.All-in-all (in spite of its obvious flaws) - Child's Play was a fairly fun horror flick that actually managed to pack a considerable-sized wallop and even score itself some genuine points (in my books) for, at least, trying to be original.

This movie is a classic horror film directed and written by Tom Holland who also wrote and directed Fright Night my favorite vampire horror film. This is his without doubt alongside with Fright Night his best film. This is the original and the first Chucky film in the franchise that started all. This movie is a classic 80's movie and it is a favorite of mine. I am not a favorite fan of all Chucky films I haven't seen this movie in over 20 years since I was a kid so these days I re watched Child's Play trilogy and I loved it. The reason why I wasn't a fan of Chucky was because of the movie Bride of Chucky the fourth installment that really hurt the franchise and was a let down, I hated that film. After that I didn't want to see any other Chucky films anymore. I never saw before the last two films but I will soon I will re watch Bride of Chucky again and then I will watch the last two films I haven't seen them before. Since in September I am getting all Jason films Friday the 13th on Blu-ray discs all 11 films except Freddy Vs. Jason I have that film already in my collection and I will start reviewing them after I will watch all 11 films. So now I decide to give a chance horror franchise and I revisit The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Children of the Corn franchise and both of these two franchise suck a dick in my opinion and I don't like them! The Texas Chain Saw Massacre sequels are f***** horrible the only good one after the original is part III. Children of the Corn all sequels except 2 sucks a dick they are all horrible. That's why I gave this franchise a chance and those three films are great and I will purchase them on Blu-ray in October. "No, Andy, NO! We're friends 'til the end! Remember? This is the end, friend!" I love this film I am big fan of it, but my favorite is part 2 of Child's Play I will explain in the sequel why I love it more than the original. Catherine Hicks was absolutely fabulous in this movie a single mother who fights for her child you easily root for her. Alex Vincent is awesome as Andy the kid he steals the film. What the movie surprised me was actor Chris Sarandon I could not believe it guys it was the guy from Fright Night Jerry Dandrige he was in this film and he played the good guy this time, he surprised me. Chris Sarandon is Detective Mike Norris and he kicks ass he was fantastic. Brad Dourif acted in this film and he recorded the voice for the Chucky puppet. The designer and puppeteer was Kevin Yagher who made a perfect Chucky doll and scary. This movie is disturbed, dark and really scary and also unrealistic I was really afraid when a kid went alone on the train and when he was alone in the city and the house blow's up and I was really afraid for the kid Alex Vincent that's something terrible will happen to him I am glad the crew watch on him. I am glad this film is unrealistic but a good really good horror film everyone in this film did great job in my opinion. We have two explosions in this we have action good gun shootouts and a great killer doll on the lose I love it. The plot is about a single mother who gives her son a much sought after doll for his birthday, only to discover that it is possessed by the soul of a serial killer. This film is about revenge from serial killer Charles Lee Ray who hides his soul in Chucky doll to get revenge on his partner who betrayed him and the cop who shot him. After his revenge isn't complete and he miss to kill the cop that killed him, he want's to get back in flesh and become a human again only he needs a human body the one he told a secret but he has to hurry before it is too late otherwise he will be a plastic doll forever. B+ 8/10 great horror film I would give it a 10 if the movie wouldn't be so disturbed and I wouldn't be so scared for this kid Andy alone in the city I was really scared for him. The rest of the films was fantastic the kill's were good in this film I loved it and the acting from everyone was brilliant. Child's Play is a 1988 American supernatural slasher film co-written and directed by Tom Holland from a story by Don Mancini. Considered by many a masterpiece, Child's Play is a film that has an excellent production value, all the effects of Chucky's animatronics; The somber, but high-quality photography; The locations and the scenarios chosen. All the production is of the highest quality. Also worth mentioning is the exceptional voice work of Brad Dourif and the good deaths. But this exceptional production value and Brad Dourif's extraordinary minimal work is compensated with a functional but not a bit original and inspired direction; A weak supporting cast. But the fatal point of the film is the script, which is counting on absurd and ridiculous situations and wants the audience to be scared and take it seriously.
