This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Thomas Fuentes (Eduardo Verástegui) has been adored by women all his life. He's in Los Angeles with girlfriends stashed around the country. Lorena Morales (Roselyn Sanchez) is a bespectacled high-powered Chicago lawyer. Cici (Sofía Vergara) is a possessive cocktail waitress in Miami. Patricia Sofia Ordonez Coronado del Pescador (Jaci Velasquez) is a high maintenance debutante from the New York area. Thomas is feeling the relationship pressures and is passing out. The girls all decide to travel to surprise him in L.A. They are shocked to find each other at his house. FBI agent Carmen Rivera (Lisa Vidal) has followed Cici who is driving a car for her friend's boyfriend. It's a broad jiggle-fest latino screwball comedy. It fails to deliver any compelling characters. The actresses are top level latina hotties but they come off as one-dimensional soap opera characters. The guy is even worst. He's a hunky dud. He's pretty to look at but empty inside. If the intention is a T&A B-movie, this can be excused. It's supposed to be a comedy and that's not going to work. The characters are annoying. The situations are silly. There is nothing funny or fun. It's a sad waste of talent and too tiresome to watch.

Linda Mendoza's 'Chasing Papi' has received plenty of flack from viewers but I found it to be highly entertaining. Obviously, story isn't a priority here but when you have three hilarious superhotties like Sofia Vergara, Rosalyn Sanchez and Jaci Velasquez and jokes that work, what's not to enjoy. The story itself is silly, inconsistent, contrived, somewhat far-fetched and pinned with plot holes but it doesn't take itself too seriously, so why should we? The pacing is steady. At times, characters appear randomly but I found that just adds to the comedy. The aforementioned three hotties make a very amusing comedic trio. They work off each other very well. Of the three, sensual Sofia Vergara has the natural flair for comedy and sexy just oozes from her. She owns every one of her scene. Lisa Vidal is good as the sexy non-nonsense cop. Freddy Rodríguez and D.L. Hughley make hilarious appearances as two petty crooks. In addition to a great cast and jokes that cracked me up, the pleasantly upbeat soundtrack adds energy. Overall, 'Chasing Papi' is a silly but fun little movie. I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again.

I have to give it an 8 because I absolutely love Eduardo & Sophia!! It's the first time I was introduced to them!!! The scene with Cici dancing with Tomas is breath taking!! I agree that Eduardo comes across as stiff but to me that makes him even hotter. It's like he doesn't realize how hot he is. He's one of those men who looks better NOT smiling. To me, Tomas came off as a guy who really did like all three women. He was genuinely interested in them!! He wasn't just looking for a piece of A... That's what made the film so sweet. Even the dog had a crush on him!! Some of the jokes that I really enjoyed were when Fala & Cici were talking about Cici going to LA & Fala says "Get your toes done!!" When Cici sees the woman detective & says with her nose crinkled up "She's not that hot!!" It was so sincere & sweet. My favorite scene I think aside from the dancing is when Tomas is walking in the airport & the old black woman drops her suit case handle. Tomas leans down & hands it to her in one swoop & she says "where were you in 32!!" OMG I love that scene!!! He's one of those men you can just stop & stare at forever............I lived in Miami for a bit so I think it takes an appreciation of Latino culture to be able to enjoy the movie!!! Whenever I answered the telephone in Miami with my mid western accent, people would exclaim!! You speak English!!!!!!!!!! ' The movie is very G rated with tons of T & A & blonde extensions!!!

I've read some the reviews that people made in regards to this movie and all I can say is take it easy - this movie DOES NOT deplict the average latino but it does reflect a funny view to the Casanova that is actually a nice guy who actually falls for 3 different ladies. If this movie was made with pure white/anglo/european actors and it was called Chasing Stud - I'm sure the anglo community wouldn't be so agitated by the flick. In the DVD the director mentioned that that she wanted to capture the goofy and fun-loving interaction from the movies in the 60's like What's Up Doc with Barbara Stresan and she succeeded with this movie. As a latino - I do not find this movie at all offensive to my latin culture (Puerto Rican/Colombian) and everyone (family/friends)I talked to about this movie found it to be cute and funny. So, sit back, watch, crack up and enjoy the movie!!!!1
