Rajesh Khanna plays a man drawn unwillingly into a nest of enemy spies and intrigue with the future of his country riding on his shoulders.Chhaya (Neetu) and Amit Narayan (Rajesh) are in love and Chhaya wants to get married. Amit doesn’t see why they have to get married and wants to keep things as they are. Wedding dates are set and then moved, to her great frustration. This is really their only point of discord.Amit lives alone, and is also very fond of Chhaya’s family: father (Om Shivpuri), mother (Dina Pathak), little brother Raju (Master Raju Shrestha)and sister Maya (Rozeena). It is Diwali, and as children burst crackers and set off potentially limb-severing fireworks, Amit’s upstairs neighbor Raman (Vinod Mehra) has been watching a group of men in a tent just outside the building’s courtyard.

There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

I am a big fan of Rajesh Khanna and Basu Chatterji but this film is really really really bad. It has no plot. It has nothing to offer. Music is bad. No innovative story or sequences. Utter nonsense. Film is completely linear. One thing happens then the next and then the next. There is no need of the previous scene for the current scene. Its a complete waste of time. First 15 minute we see Neetu singh looking for Rajesh Khanna and every time she just miss meeting him. He finally meets her standing at her house door and thats the end of it. There is no relevance of whatsoever later. Nonsense. Watch 'mrityudata' aur even 'Rab ne bana di jodi' instead. They are masterpiece compared to this nonsense.

Chakravyuha ( 1978) OK, On the eve of the New Year 2012 here is the review of a good suspense – spy film ( jasoos) based on the Hollywood film: The 39 steps.Rajesh Khanna, is a lover boy engaged to be married to Neetu Singh and is an innocent common man. But he is unwittingly drawn into a spy network intrigue drama involving an assassination to be done at New Delhi. A spy ( Vinod Mehra) stages his own suicide , seeks shelter in RK's house and promptly gets murdered but leaves behind a tell -all mini dairy in a bottle of sugar..with instructions that IT MUST reach IGP OF Delhi before a certain date , otherwise! Then the movie takes quite unpredictable and even uncharacteristic turns leading to a good satisfying climax. It is one of the better 'manhunt and chase' variety of suspense thrillers seen in Hindi. See it if you like this genre of 'suspense and chase' films. I did and glad we saw it with family. No obscenity, No violence and not even unnecessary songs and comedy tracks. Kishore Asha duet "Shaadi karne se pyaar kam ho jaata hai" and Mohd Rafi solo " Chal, aage nikal" are the only two tracks

Chakravyuha has Rajesh Khanna the Superstar in all its angles and he singly pulls the movie on his shoulders. It is a plot totally unique of some gangsters trying to create problems for the country and how a young man fights with the situation to book the culprits to law. It has interesting situations and how Rajesh Khanna comes out of it. It is unique movie with superb performance by Rajesh Khanna. Vinod Mehra, Neetu Singh have special appearances in the movie but the movie belongs to Rajesh Khanna. No other actor could have essayed this role save the great Superstar. A must see for people who love clean good movies and a must for Rajesh Khanna fans.
