Blistering performances.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

11 years ago, director John Stockwell impressed me very much with the film Crazy/Beautiful, but his following movies were very far from reaching that level, such as Cat Run, which I consider (with the exception of the deplorable Into the Blue) his worst film so far. This is a pity, because I think that Stockwell is a solid director who (with the exception of Crazy/Beautiful) hasn't found a project which fully exploits his talent; and after having watched Cat Run, it's evident that the same thing keeps happening.Cat Run pretended to emulate the style made popular by director Guy Ritchie in the films Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Stockwell employed the well-known techniques of quick edition, freeze frame, split screen and animated transitions. However, those tricks feel false, like if Stockwell forcedly introduced them after the shooting, contradicting the general tone from the narrative. Having said that, I understand why he did that...the screenplay lacks of any flow or excitement, and its lazy structure takes us from one scene to another without any enthusiasm or energy. However, the stylish aspects Stockwell added to the film didn't avoid it from being boring, mainly because of the screenplay.Paz Vega is a talented actress, but the character she plays is totally flat and passive. She isn't even a "damsel in danger"; she's just the screenplay's "mcguffin"...that thing which generates conflict because everyone wants to find it. The villains are forgettable clichés; and the duet of North American "heroes" are hateful because of how poorly written they are and the atrocious performances from Scott Mechlowicz and Alphonso McAuley in those roles.Even though Cat Run was a tedious experience, it has one element I liked very much...Janet McTeer's performance. I guess Helen Mirren rejected to play the character of the British efficient killer, and McTeer took advantage of the opportunity in order to bring a brilliant performance. In spite of that, I didn't like Cat Run, mainly because of the bad screenplay and its abundance of irritating characters.

The movie has everything to keep you engrossed for its 100 min..the right amount of comedy by the amateur detectives(the actors are authentic in their roles), the overall thrill, the good pace, good visuals..The editing has taken care that you don't have to suffer even a single dull moment And outstanding performance by Janet McTeer as one of the coolest and most efficient killers I have seen in such kind of movies..The beauty and glamor of Paz Vega could have been handled more effectively..After all, it is not very often we across thrillers/actions which have right amount of comedy and entertainment

"Cat Run" was really an explosive surprise of a movie. I hadn't expected this at all.The story in "Cat Run" is one of multiple facets. First we have the story of longtime friends Anthony Hester (played by Scott Mechlowicz) and Julian Simms (played by Alphonso McAuley) who team up to make a private investigator company and end up hot on the trail on a rather big case. American senator Bill Krebb (played by Christopher McDonald) is doing shady business in Eastern Europe and is caught on video with prostitutes, a video he doesn't want to go public, and this event was Catalina Rona (played by Paz Vega) witness to. Hired to clean up the loose ends and the mess is professional hit(wo)man Helen Bingham (played by Janet McTeer).Essentially it is a high-octane thriller of cat-and-mouse chase mixed up with some spy activity, and just the right amount of comedy. And the end result was awesome.I found "Cat Run" to be incredibly entertaining, both story-wise, action-wise and comedy-wise. This movie had all the ingredients required for a great movie. The action sequences in the movie were really great, nicely choreographed, and could easily as well have been something right out of a James Bond movie. Thumbs up on that. And thumbs up for Janet McTeer, she was off the charts in the action sequences. The people cast for the roles in "Cat Run" were doing really good jobs with their characters. Especially Janet McTeer, she was really the driving force behind this movie. If you like action movies, like spy movies, and like comedy movies, then you definitely owe it to yourself to sit down and watch "Cat Run", because it is well worth it. Great entertainment from start till end.

This is one very funny & quite racy action thriller with a lesser known star cast to the worldwide viewers but who gets together to entertain us well. There are F's and B's flying from all the characters' mouth so many times that it's futile to keep count but when all the filthy language is mixed with loads of humour, we end up having a fun time. Most of the acting is forgettable but the movie covers up for that, thanks to the fast-paced action scenes, the hand combats, the humour and of course the nudity :) Only the female actors really stood out here. Janet McTeer as the hired assassin Helen Bingham shows a deadly balance of motherly care and ruthless violence! Paz Vega as the escort Catalina is just crazy HOT! Verdict: I never expected Cat Run to be this fun. But ya, adult viewing only ;)
