After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

I only saw this one once, and from what I remember I enjoyed aspects of it and disliked parts of the film as well. I clearly remember the ending being a huge let down, but there was some nice action up to that point as well. The movie has a dude who is after robots for the obvious revenge reasons that are used quite frequently in anime movies. I say it is sort of like the "Galaxay Express" movies, but this film is inferior to both of those flicks. The hero in this one looks a bit lame too, so another few points off for that. The bad guys are rather good though as they have interesting motives not found in movies these days. There is a bunch of weird stuff in this one too featuring a robotic swan, but all in all this film is typical of a lot of anime movies, it just does not look all that good for the most part and the plot tries to be to deep as well, never really achieving what its goals are like say a very good anime "Akira". I will not say never watch this movie, but I will say I would not really try that hard to find this one.

I'm a sucker for costumed superheroes, no two ways about it- and, if said costumed superhero, in the course of his/her adventures, makes a valid point about Life in general (or Life in these Trying Times in particular), so much the better. The irony of CASSHAN is that the Earth's environment is being protected by machines forged in the likeness of Man. (Many experts, these days, are laying the blame for Global Warming on nothing less than The Industrial Revolution itself.) The Protector of Earth is a Proxy- an Artificial Being. A Mandroid. That this mini-series is so beautifully rendered helps, as well. CASSHAN pulls no punches (it's up to the viewer to decide for themselves- up to a given point- who's really the hero and who the villain), and is told well enough to keep one engrossed from beginning to end. Can't ask for more than that. Highly recommended.

You'll like this film if you enjoy: *Really bad animation. *Really bad scripts. *Naziesque films about ubermensch heroes. *Films set in 'exotic' locations, like Europe. *Feudal societies at inappropriate points of technological development. *Films where the environmentalists are evil. *Films where woman are stupid and/or scantily clad, or absent. *The sound effects from the film Aliens. *Robotic swans. Which in honesty was kinda cool. But not worth the time to watch it.I got this film for free at London Anime Allnighter 2008. One of those films the retails know they can never sell. And still I think I got the bad end of the deal.

Its got to be one of the best anime's I've ever seen. I saw Cashaun: Robot Hunter on Sci-Fi channel's "Saturday Anime" block. Basically its a movie about a scientist who made a robot who's prime directive was to clean up earth and bring it back to its natural glory. The robot figured that the best way to clean up earth is to get rid of all the humans, thus getting rid of pollution and war. The scientist also made two other cyborgs. One being Cashaun and the other being a dog. Together Cashaun and his dog (whom makes Rush look mega-weak) must stop the eco-crazed robot and his henchbots from driving the human race into extinction. If you really want more on this film you'll have to go somewhere and rent it.-BlazeFoxKitsune =^.^=
