It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
... View MoreEasily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
... View MoreGreat story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
... View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
... View MoreGiving this movie 10 stars to help even out its unacceptably low average of 6.4.I like the setups, the scripts continual jabs at Hollywood, movie- making, and actors. Steve Martin, Christine Baranski, and Heather Graham all do good work here.However... Eddie Murphy absoposilutely steals EVERY scene he is in, both as paranoid egomaniac star Kit Ramsey AND as the endearingly gullible and innocent Jiff. Steve Martin's story is the necessary plot bones that enable Murphy's comic star turns throughout this movie. As I rewatch again on my DVR, his scenes are the ones I return to over and over for continual laughs.
... View MoreThere's a lot to be said for a Hollywood satire that's sharp, yet free from cynicism. "Bowfinger" features plenty of jabs at the culture, but they're all light-heated. It's a great sense of humor. And while the cast is good, this is all just an excuse to see Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy ply their comedic talents. This type of story suits Martin, but Murphy takes it to a whole new level. The paranoid movie star is a nice touch, but the man kills it as a goofed-up nerd; and when that awkward character is on screen, this is nothing short of hilarious. I love that even though Murphy's got his own signature laugh (Axel Foley, anyone?) he comes up with something completely new. This is a great comedy, beautifully paced and very funny.8/10
... View MoreOne of Steve Martin's best movies, and one of Eddie Murphy's best too. This has several laugh out loud moments.Plot In A Paragraph: Hollywood, today: Bobby Bowfinger (Steve Martin) a down on his luck actor-producer-director, has a script which a friend has written. Completely convinced of its quality, he decides to take a last shot at fame and fortune. A famous producer(Robert Downey Jr) promises him to do it, but there is one condition: Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy) Hollywood's number one star, has to be in it. So, Bobby tries his luck with Kit, who rejects him, so he then decides to shoot the film himself. Featuring an aspiring beauty from Ohio (Heather Graham) and Kit Ramsey - who does not even know he's being filmed.
... View MoreI'm amazed that this funny movie only gets an average of 6.5 votes. It perfectly combines satire with slapstick. The central premise - that you can make a movie without the star knowing about it - is wonderfully realised by the inspired Steve Martin and his crew of barmy losers. Eddie Murphy naturally steals the show in two different roles. The traffic-dodging scene had me rolling on the floor. My favourite quote (from Heather Graham as the nymphomaniac starlet), "I've never done it lying down before!" How can anybody not like this utterly charming movie, which bears throughout the stamp of Steve Martin's unique view of life? It's a true return to form for two of America's great natural comedians - just when we thought they had stopped being funny forever.
