From Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, and Freddy Krueger to Pinhead, Chucky, and Leatherface, this serves as a supplement to any horror/slasher fan's video collection. Unfortunately, some of the scenes they chose were not the best (there were far bloodier and scarier scenes in the Friday the 13th series than the one they chose from JASON GOES TO HELL) and they left out a few of the classic slashers (Santa Claus killer from SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT, Jack Frost, the Thomas Sinclair/Bryan Lawson brother/killer duo from the GLENVILLE films, the URBAN LEGEND killers, etc). But the `film' is more than adequate and provided me with a list of horror movies on my `must-see' list. Commentary on the DVD edition is done by none other than Robert Englund. RATING: 6 out of 10.
... View MoreThis movie is a MUST HAVE for any horror fan. It takes us on a trip to watcvh the 17 best scenes from the 17 best boogeymen, including an Easter Egg featuring Jack Frost. So, why were these boogeymen picked?Every one has a reason, I suppose. But, what about Hannibal? or that creepy girl from the Ring? or the Creeper? All three of those should be in Boogeymen 2. As a matter of fact, some of the new Boogeymen are from films lke the Ring that weren't released yet.So... What are the biggest questions on this film?Q: Why was Jason Goes to Hell the Jason selection? A: Simple. It showed you Jason. I don't believe every Friday the 13th movie does that until the end, does it? Well, yes, there were a million better Friday scenes, but, on the other hand, it showed Jason in his present form.Q: Why wasn't the Exorcist on there? Or the Shining? A: Boogeymen. Not Scary Movies. There is no Boogeymen in the Exorcist, is there? And the Shining? Maybe with a sequel. Or a suitable kill scene. There are neither. Maybe... Boogeymen 2 for the Shining, but leave the Exorcist out.Q: Why wasn't Hannibal on there? Or the Creeper? A: Although this may appear to be basically the same question as the one above, it is not. Both of these boogeymen deserve to be on Boogeymen, and maybe they'll be on B2.Q: Why was Jack Frost an Easter Egg? A: Why was he even on there? Personally, I'd prefer The Creeper, but he's an Easter Egg probably because of the nudity? I can't really answer that.Q: What is The Ugly? A: It's a bit of a Foreign film, but before you scoff, it is really a good movie, even if Hannibal deserved that spot more. I'd reccomend renting it, because it will remind some viewers of Hitchcock type Psychological thrillers. Not a bad movie.Q: Has Boogeymen 2 been announced? A: Not that I know of, but it did say "Vol. 1" On the side, didn't it. Go ahead, pick up your copy, look at the side- ah! NOW you see!Q: What can we expect from Boogeymen 2? A: I have no clue. Either it will be just new scenes from the previous Boogeymen, All new Boogeymen, or a mix of both. We could see Jeepers Creepers, Hannibal, or Children of the Corn. I'd say all are a possibility.Q: How much does this movie go for? A: It's 20 bucks on DVD. And buy it on DVD. There's a plethora of special features that you don't want to miss. I don't know about VHS.Q: Camilla? What's she doing here? A: I don't know. The movie wasn't all that great, and there's not even a sequel for it. The Ugly doesn't have one either, but it's really a good movie. I'd say it's there because it's the only Boogeywoman (cough Ring cough) that was out at the time. Note: The Ring wasn't out at the time.
... View MoreAt only an hour, this isn't the best compilation DVD they could possibly come up with, but I liked it a lot. I've been a little out of touch with horror movies recently, so it was nice to watch clips from all these famous horror movies to get me back on the ball. There are some very gruesome clips, some are downright sickening, but that's the fun of it. I loved the Robert Englund commentary--he had some very interesting things to say, and seemed to be at least somewhat oriented with every horror director, writer and actor featured. Plus, he has a fine sense of humor. The easter egg was really nice. I haven't seen "Jack Frost," and am only familiar with it through the trailer. It seems like a really cheesy flick, but boy does that babe look great naked. You can't have a cheesy horror flick without a lil' bit of gratuitous nudity, that's my motto. My impression after the clips were over was, "That's it?" But hopefully, they'll sooner or later come up with a "Boogeymen 2" DVD. If they do, I really look forward to it. And I love the song "I'm Your Boogeyman" by Rob Zombie (back then, White Zombie), which was featured in the opening and closing credits. Horror fans will probably love it. Others will be genuinely disgusted and will probably wanna stay away. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart. My score: 7 (out of 10)
... View MoreCan you name a movie that has Jason, Freddy, Michael Myers, Chucky, Leatherface, Pinhead, and more in it? I sure can, BOOGEYMEN!Although the movie is just a bunch of clips put together, it shows us that the 80's and early 90's rocked! They have taken the absolute BEST in horror and smashed it all together in one killer compilation! The best part about this movie is that it takes the best scenes from the best movies. The tagline "Nothing but the good stuff" is true indeed. If you own the DVD, there is animated trivia, name that frame, original Theatrical trailers, a DVD-ROM interactive horror trivia games, Legends, Audio Commentary, and many more extras put in, making this movie a great buy!The overall presentation of this film makes it an absolute horror fest! Its like seeing all the scary parts of movies, but not having to sit through many hours of storyline! The directors put the segments together in a good, fast paced order, and I especially love the audio commentary by Robert Englund (who played "Freddy Krueger"). Overall I give this movie ********(8) out of *********(10) stars! ALSO: If you watch the closing credits, "JACK FROST 2" is billed as being in the movie, yet it is nowhere to be found in the movie, strange...Those FlixMix people always keep me guessing, Great movie!
