It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

Wow. I would feel bad about myself after seeing this movie if it weren't for the fact that it totally motivated me to keep plugging along. Muhammad Yunus is an example of what one person can do to create great change in the world for good. I loved that the filmmaker, Holly Mosher, went to Bangladesh by herself to follow her subjects. Very empowering. Watch it and get motivated too! I loved the subjects she followed, I really felt connected to them throughout the film. Now I want to visit Bangladesh, especially before the sea levels rise even more and the people are displaced. This film puts a face to the people. May we all be blessed to help others in this manner. I'm thinking about opening a branch! LOL

Bonsai People reveals a powerful - and successful - win-win strategy for successful living. There is no law that states you have to screw people over in order to make money. This documentary shows a strong example of how companies can make money AND help people to better themselves and become positive forces in society. I really wish everyone would see this documentary. It shows how life can be and provides a lesson that all Americans should learn: that having your favorite TV show preempted for a week or your video game console break, or even getting your electricity shut off or your car impounded are not life-shattering moments. Set in the poverty-ridden but beautiful country of Bangladesh, Bonsai People left me with a supreme gratitude for my life and very high respect for the women of Bangladesh who did not give up but worked and clawed their way up from extreme poverty. The documentary also shows how a lone person with a vision can provide a hand up and be a successful businessperson watching the people he helped flourish. I highly recommend this movie.
