Tied for the best movie I have ever seen
... View MoreThis movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
... View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
... View MoreA great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
... View MoreI heard the title of this film a number of times since its release, all I knew about it was that it had werewolves, and I knew it had low reviews by critics, but I still wanted to give it a go. Basically in Bucharest, Romania lives Vivian (Agnes Bruckner), an orphaned nineteen-year-old werewolf, she was raised by her aunt Astrid (Katja Riemann) after her parents and two siblings were killed by hunters in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado. Her family belongs to a bloodline of werewolves and Vivian is promised to Gabriel (Olivier Martinez), the leader of the pack, trying to a live like any regular human she works in a chocolate shop. American cartoonist Aiden (Hugh Dancy), who creates artworks and comic books but never signs his name, is researching the "mythology" of werewolves for his publisher for the next edition of his magazine, he meets Vivian and they form a close bond. They fall in love with each other, however Gabriel's evil son, and Vivian's cousin Rafe (Bryan Dick), is keeping a close eye on her and poisoning Gabriel about her loving relationship with Aiden. Vivian is being forced to choose between continuing centuries of family tradition and giving up true happiness or continuing her passion with Aiden and angering her fellow lycanthropes. Also starring Chris Geere as Ulf, Tom Harper as Gregor, John Kerr as Finn, Jack Wilson as Willem and Vitalie Ursu as Constani. The title is based on a thought phrase, a predicament for a werewolf, "which tastes sweeter, blood or chocolate". Bruckner gives a reasonably performance as the adolescent werewolf stuck between the dark world she inhabits and life as a human, Dancy is also reasonable as the human she falls for, and Martinez and Dick are alright being nasty, I will admit I did get into the story a little bit, the werewolf-human love story most of all, and some alright special effects, you could compare it to Twilight I suppose (but no vampires), overall it is a pretty average romantic fantasy horror. Okay!
... View MoreTo be honest, I am kind of sick of bloody and gory stories about vampires or werewolf. In this movie these creatures are describe differently. No to much special effect. ... View MoreI had no expectations for this movie, considering it's a teen werewolf movie. I was pleasantly surprised though by not only it having a reasonable plot, but the main characters were very endearing. Agnes Bruckner did a great job being torn and sad, but still in love, and Hugh Dancy shows a lot of promise as a young actor, although his last credit was multiple Razzie nominee Basic Instinct 2. Both will have great careers ahead of them. There was a bit of difference in the traditional werewolf stories here. It definitely had the Underworld feel with the werewolves being very close knit, powerful group. They didn't morph into weird beasts, but into wolves instead. That was a bit cheesy (blame the digital artists), but I guess it worked well as a concept.Negatives: A bit cheesy in parts, but this is a teen movie. The soundtrack was disappointing considering how much I liked the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack and was expecting the same. From a fellow movie watcher, it does not follow the book at all. Not even close. So if you've read the book, don't go in with high hopes."Simple plot, complex characters" has become my new criteria for whether or not a story is enjoyable, and this fit the bill well. I don't know if it was worth seeing in a theater, but worth a look at home.
... View MoreThis movie sucked. I read the book and loved it so watching this was really sad. It totally strays from the original plot line. The book is set in the US and the characters are totally different. They are all younger in the book than in the movie,Vivian doesn't live with her aunt, Aiden is supposed to be a hippie and Gabriel is the badass but not the bad guy. Most annoying is the ending of the movie because Vivian kills Gabriel and runs away with Adien, but in the book she ends up with Gabriel and the pack. Even though I mainly hated the movie because of its changes to the book I also didn't like the movie itself. It just seemed dated and old, I didn't think it was filmed in 2007. Also, the actors that were cast didn't fit to me. Overall, how it was all put together sucked.
