Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Sarah (Kate Bosworth) has an idea to spend time with her girlfriends camping on a remote island. Abby (Katie Aselton) and Louise (Lake Bell) have old boyfriend issues they need to still come to terms with. While on the island they bump into some hunters/poachers, three guys recently dishonorably discharged from the military. They hit it off fine, especially Abby and Henry (Will Bouvier) until tragedy strikes and the film takes on Rambettes vs seasoned killers with guns.I thought I would never get tired on these type of films, but I believe I have reached my saturation limit. The film is typical of the genre except the hunters lacked the personality to make this short film entertaining. Alex (Anslem Richardson) was a confusing character, poorly scripted. The theme is that we all do things that apologies don't mend, and centers around Abby who was wronged. Later Abbey tries to change how people feel through an apology. Might make for a rental if you like this type of film. Not the best of its kind.Parental Guide: F-bomb, attempted rape, nudity (Katie Aselton, Lake Bell)

I'd like to respond to reviewer rchoyle who asked, " I wonder if anyone else will be hating on these women?" Yes! What was everyone involved with this movie project thinking??First, these three actresses and the screenplay failed to convince me that these characters have ever been "best friends." They all appear to be self-absorbed and to have no feeling for any body else whatsoever. Their chatter chatter is vacuous and its irresponsible sexual content is disturbing. These girls could have had "stupid" written on their foreheads. These are the sort of people you might want to strangle, not root for! They go "camping" on a deserted island with no apparent thought for their physical safety overall. They invite three male strangers to join them for supper on the beach. One of them then proceeds to converse about her past casual sex. By this time, it's all too clear that there are no "good guys" and that this screenplay will bring out even worse in everybody.

Three childhood friends set aside their personal issues and reunite for a girls' weekend on a remote island off the coast of Maine. One wrong move turns their weekend getaway into a deadly fight for survival. So, this film was directed by Katie Aselton ("The League"), based on a screenplay by her husband Mark Duplass (also "The League"), and also stars Aselton. This may not be the duo you would expect to make a thriller, but they work together in the genre exceptionally well.Reviews have been mixed to negative, with people saying the women make poor choices in the film (as if horror characters do not usually make poor choices). The film is better than given credit for, with a decent amount of tension and some incredible dialogue. Whether scripted or ad libbed, the conversations come off as far more natural than the average film -- these could really be three friends on a trip.

This film really isn't bad or anything, it just wasn't done properly. The choice of the 3 lead actresses were very good in my opinion, and the main antagonist was good as well, and I really liked how they made him look like a psycho. Now the one thing was the death of Kate Bosworth in the film. (I'd prefer if she didn't die but that's another story) I believe her death wasn't good, or dramatic enough. They should have at least made it dramatic and not just forget about her. Now that that's out of the way, if you watch the trailer, then you've basically seen the move in a few short minutes. The trailer gives away too much, by seeing the trailer, you can pretty much just figure out all the things you haven't seen, which are basically just extra, and the movie was pretty predictable as well.
