The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
... View MoreThe plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

View MoreIf you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

... View MoreI saw this this movie just last week and I decided that this is a 'must watch' for me. First off, I want to apologize in advance for any blunder that might occur in this write-up.. English is not my mother tongue, I am a proud Nigerian., west-side to be precise, and where i am from Yoruba is my main language.. I am more than grateful to Jets Amata for a wonderful script, a beautiful plot and perfect execution by the actors. If not that this world is just a dying and a biased one, this movie for me should win an Oscar. If it were to be an American, Korean or Indian it would be nominated and probably win an Oscar award., but being a story about Nigeria and its looters, being a story about how suffering and cheating is deep rooted in Nigeria, being a story about how the Nigerian government is so f up and corrupted, it's just gonna be left alone to rot. 5 years and still nothing has changed for good., it keeps getting worse and everything around here (Nigeria) keeps deteriorating., while the United states and the United Kingdom gets all the spoils and riches from our Natural resources. My grandma used to talk about how 1$ was equal to 1naira back then in the '50s and '60s, I hope things will change for the best someday,I hope someday Nigeria will be free from its bondage and those good times return for this country., I hope this movie will prompt the whole world to come to aid for Nigeria and better days return for this country... Since I was born in the early '90s Nigerians has been suffering and smelling cos there's nothing good I repeat nothing gets better in Nigeria. This is a corrupt country, countries like Saudi Arabia, south Africa, even Dubai are no better than us in Natural resources but just take a look at us, we are no match for those countries mentioned we are way behind them.. Well, Nigeria needs help, this country needs fighters, people that can stand up and challenge these corrupt leaders.. we are fed up, we are so tired of suffering and we need those good days return for us. God bless Nigeria.........
... View MoreWhy does this movie have two different names and two different "looks"? It's a good movie and everyone need to know what's really going on, what our government is allowing to go on around the world. People around the world either love Americas or totally hate us. Stuff like this is why. Arrogant corporations exploiting second and third world countries. Getting tax credits to it. The acting was okay. I overlooked it because the story was so good. The music for the credits was not appropriate. This is a serious subject, why play an upbeat song? I'm one of those people that actually sticks around for the credits. The music was distracting.
... View MoreI was very excited to see this, having waited to view it since its release in 2012. However, I was very disappointed with the overall quality of this film which is sadly lacking. Although it might have had the potential to have significant political influence; due to its many technical and creative flaws coupled with, I dare say, restrictions on its general release, I fear that any impact this movie does make will be rather limited, which I am sure Jeta Amata would not have wanted. Although it achieves its primary intention, which is to expose and communicate an important message about what is happening with the corrupt western control of the oil in the Niger Delta, and the horrors thereof; the whole movie is done in a rather hurried fashion with inconsistencies of plot, script and no real building of the central characters. Add to this lack of attention to details and you get a rather slap-dash effort that I feel does not do justice to the message that it is trying to convey. I feel this political theme was explored and expressed with far greater skill in the 2010 TV drama 'Blood and Oil' which contains a more substantial plot, suspense and careful attention to the building of a central character.By contrast, this movie feels much more like a documentation of events. Scenes tended to jump around a lot and did not give the viewer any sense of consistency. There are flashes of good acting at times, mostly overshadowed by a superficial script that does not explore any intricacies and therefore does nothing to build tension. The majority of acting though, is rather wooden and does not convey the passion necessary for such a significant issue. Having said all of this, the film did move me with concern and compassion for the situation in the Niger Delta, highlighting the corruption of those in power; the desperation of the protesters and the frustrations of their helplessness due to poverty and oppression by a military government. It also gave me an understanding of how 'terrorism' can develop as a last resort of a country that has been continuously used and abused by those with greater 'power'. I would say in summation that this film is more of a political statement than a film crafted to enlighten and entertain; it's main purpose being to bring an awareness to the state of affairs in the ND. It also stresses the definite need to raise awareness through further cinematic expression of this critical message, which, if done with more attention to detail, and perhaps greater financial backing, could make an enormous impression and possibly even create some degree of positive change.
... View MoreThis movie should win an Oscar Award. The Storyline is so good. The Actors were all incredible, Vivica Fox, Kim B, Mickey R, and the Nigerians were just so excellent.Seeing the effect of Oil pollution, and the poverty in the Oil producing regions, The corruption of Government officials, the huge influence the Oil majors have on the politicians, all of these were an eye opener, that the movie have so cleverly managed to bring to life, whilst keeping the entertainment value, it is short of a documentary. Really really engaging and educative. It reminds one of 'Blood Diamond', I hope the world will receive it well, and it will help bring an end to the disaster as it currently stands, for the poor people of the Niger Delta.
