what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

I agree completely. In fact, it amazes -me- how many people go crazy for Christopher Guest's improv-style movies like "Waiting for Guffman" and "A Mighty Wind" and know absolutely nothing about this (almost) prequel! Corky St. Clair? No, you mean Chip Dimentibella. ("The Swerdlow bris? Oyster Bay? I was the dancing deck of cards!")To this day, my brothers, cousins and I always pepper our conversations with quotes from DGMS. "Death or no death, you never leave a show!" "Look! I'm Eric Heiden! I'm winning four gold medals!" "Have another vat of gin before you you come to the work, chief." Agreed: you don't have to watch the stand-up more than once. But everything else is genius and bears repeated watching. Know it. Love it. Pine for the DVD release."I got to mambo, dahling."

Always amazed me how many people love Spinal Tap, but know nothing of this (almost) sequel. Not the biggest Crystal fan, but the avenues for Sammy and Buddy Young make sense here, and the supporting cast is beyond funny. Chris Guest, you get the feeling, is a driving force behind any production, and Eugene Levy will be funny in his coffin!! Forget the second half, the actual concert performance, this Marty Dibergi yak-u-mentary contains great laughs from incredibly talented people, Crystal included. 'Fort Fun' and Sammy playing the pyramid game show are must comedy sees, and the Brother Theadore-Sammy Davis who's on first is one of the most surrealistic skit moments ever.
