Beyond This Place Trailers

Taking drugs and intense cycling are the only things to which Cloud Rock La Belle has remained faithful throughout his life. Now his son, Kaleo, challenges his eccentric father to a bike trip. Cycling through the Pacific Northwest, Kaleo questions his father's search for truth and demands justification for his absence in his life. This film explores their failed father and son relationship and questions whether the hippie concept of freedom ultimately failed.

There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

This movie is a MUST SEE. I finally got a hold of the DVD copy, (purchased it from the film's official website) and this movie is amazing! There is a lot of drug references, though. The film's antagonist/loving father is Cloud Rock La Belle. A cycling enthusiast, who claims he's been stoned for the last 40 years and loving it. With a great score by Sufjan Stevens, this movie blew me away.Almost painful to watch at times, because of Cloud Rock's brutal honesty, and unwillingness to adopt responsibility for the abandonment issues, that the filmmaker claims to have suffered. Brilliant movie-making.
