It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

TrueHello

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

It was fun making this movie with Charlie as his stand-in again (did the same for Hot Shots!). Shooting it in reverse (long hair first, then short hair scenes later), sitting next to him with his pearl handled matching 45's he asks me "What do you think of this Movie, Phil?". He was always very nice and cordial to me. When I went back to the production office one day (me with long hair and him with short hair) he passes me (after shooting for days with both of us in long hair) and says "How's it going, Phil?". I didn't recognize him! Shooting the scenes for the "Sonora" bike run were intense! We had one of the leading outlaw motorcycle gangs respond to our casting call and they spent the night on location so they could be in the front of the pack. Lots of other extras as bikers ("Weekend Warriors" - aka Lawyers, Engineers etc. all dressed out on their shiny HD's and brand new leather!), also showed up (took their place behind the Gang). I worked Security that day (no need for a stand-in if the Actor isn't on set), and had a few "extra" bikers come riding past me to get off the set saying they were afraid of or had been threatened by the Gang members. Probably mouthed off to some of the Gang! A fun group to work with including Reno Thunder (Native American) who I miss today! The quintessential "Native". We did the "Jail" scene next to each other over and over and over! As I said, Charlie (and Linda) were very kind and nice to me. Great to work with/for.Phil Bautista, Austin TX

This is a great movie for the guys. Surf through late night movies on your cable package and boom, here's this movie. I can't change the channel no matter where part of the movie is showing. Sheen plays it to the hilt. His acting chops took a licking for some bad movies; this is one of his best. Sit back, open a brewski or six and enjoy.Linda Fiorentino was an excellent piece of eye candy! Read that again and you'll agree.Based on true events, the movie runs through character development and plot expansion. I can't get enough of this. Add the Dukes of Hazard type side kick and the cast is complete. It's showing now, so I have to get back to it, after one of the numerous shootings and bar fights.

In my opinion this is the best movie of Charlie Sheen's career. I have 2 copies of this movie and watch it several times a year. It's based on a true story and is realistic of what happens when a cop goes undercover and a fairly good depiction of the biker lifestyle. Sheen is very believable in his portrayal of Dan Saxon. The real Dan Saxon plays an extra in this movie so I'm sure its as realistic as it could possibly be and still get made in Hollywood. I figured out who the real Dan Saxon is but since he's a former undercover agent I don't think its right to say who it is in this format. There are some parts that are obviously enhanced for dramatic effect but these parts shouldn't be held against this otherwise well made film. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing the parts with the Indian 'Bogus Charlie' are more a product of Hollywood than reality but this is only my speculation.This is definitely a movie that you should own and watch instead of seeing the edited version on TV. Why it never got critical recognition is beyond me. It's better than most movies that get nominated every year that aren't worth watching once much less owning on DVD or VHS. Buy it..you won't regret it.

I would just like to say that Beyond the Law is in my opinion Charlie Sheens best movie. I have watched this numerous times, and coming from that type of Lifestyle, all I can say is take a long hard look, this movie is as real as it gets. I would also like to say that believe me, there are short bikers out there and they can kick butt right along with the rest of them. Its a shame that Sheen didn't get the recognition that he should of for this movie. It shows that he can be a dramatic actor right along with the best of them. He played the role of Dan Saxon better than anyone could, and I take my hat off to him. This is a movie that I own and truly appreciate.
