I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

2005 was not a good year for movies. The annual gross for the box office that year almost literally wreaked a foul stench, and it can't be denied it was because antics like this were thrown into the threshold. Where to begin with this fake dung for a movie. First of all, can someone can explain what brand of paint thinner the producer was inhaling, when he cast Kidman as the lead? What brand was it, because off brand would explain a lot! A wiggle of that nose, and this movie will just go away, right? Wrong! The story barely exists, and the movie tries way too hard to make you laugh with silly nonsense. Luckily we only rented this, we didn't buy it, and we didn't pay to see it at the theater. I'm not sure if this is Nicole's worst movie, but it's certainly the worst movie I've ever seen her in. RIP director Norah.

Anyone remember the old TV comedy Bewitched? This mess up has the same name and the same basic concept, but it is used as a vehicle for (this will make you laugh. Not) Will Ferrell! Yes, the story is not about a witch in the real world but about Will Ferrell failing to be funny. In fact the entire movie was not remotely amusing. I am not a big Nicole Kidman fan; she appears to have just one facial expression and uses it at every opportunity. This film might explain that expression - sort of confused incomprehension - since a role that maybe her agent (and the rest of us) thought would be the lead was torn away and the emphasis instead given to Ferrell (I can only think that he has some blackmail material on somebody important) to promote what should be a background character to be the lead. Want to know how bad this was - imagine a film being made of Breaking Bad with the lead role being taken by another teacher who never actually appeared in the original series.Dreadful.

This movie was fairly well cast with the notable exception of Will Ferrell as Darrin. Frankly, he was terrible in the role - not at all like Darrin Stephens (either of them).Shirley MacLaine and Michael Cain were made true victims by Will Ferrel's poor performance. It's as if Will Ferrel had never watched a single episode of the show and had only bothered to memorize his lines, rather than make any attempt to understand the character he was portraying.Steve Carell deserves accolades for his performance as Uncle Arthur. But, Shirley MacLaine deserves best supporting actress in this movie for nailing Endora. She could have been just as good as Agnes Moorehead in the original show. Nicole Kidman's performance was less than memorable - and, I imagine she would prefer we forget it, too.The script and plot left much to be desired. I did not care for the film maker's approach to this movie at all. Will Ferrel made this movie a one-timer for me. I will never watch it, again. The fans and the original show were both short-changed by this half-hearted and largely incompetent attempt.

I made this account just to give this film a perfect rating. I was confused to see that it was universally panned at the age of 11, and after watching it again, I am equally confused today. I'm not fRICKIN JOKING, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS PERFECT, the wardrobe, sets and cast are like A+++ and I laughed so hard tbh, Nicole Kidman is so cute in this role nd her American accent is so good. It made me wanna be a witch so bad, and the cast was perf, espesh Steve Carrell whose Uncle Arthur voice slayed my entire life. The CGI was weirdly good for 2005, AND THE SOUNDTRACK WAS SUCH A KILLER. Hello, Talking Heads, the Who, even the Police in the end credits. Why do you all hate this movie why are you doing this to me, please rewatch Bewitched and evaluate your lives.
