Such a frustrating disappointment

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

I would say only one group could actually hold a beat and really dance.. The Asian group. Well I think they were. Anyway if you watch the movie you will know. Needed much more dancing. Good dancing. Not even comparable to the first movie. Or any other dance movie. So don't get your hopes up and don't sit back to be ready to dance with the movie lol. Not good at all.I can't dance myself so who am I to talk but I do know good dancing. But understandble the movie had to be made.Just should have been made properly.Stomp The Yard.. Idlewild..:) .. Dance Flick.. just kidding.. but seriously this movie needed a lot of work. Only cost me 1.50 to buy so its going in my give away stack for the holidays.

Short summery: Camera guys don't even know to capture the dancers whole body when they're shooting the dance. They keep cutting back and forth from shooting the body at wast up to shooting the face close up. People who watches dance movies wants to watch hand movements and foot work not just stare at faces. The sound tracks suck because they don't even match the events that went on and don't even describe "HIP-HOP". The music didn't even go with any of the dances. It was like doing a free style dancing with mambo music. During the competition in the movie, there were no dance where the dancers actually danced to the music. They were dancing to a separate soundtrack that was filled in. Even the crowd cheering were fake.

This movie completely surpassed my expectations.... as to how bad it would be. I was expecting the terrible acting. I was expecting a nearly non-existent story with more holes than a fine swiss cheese. Unfortunately I was also expecting some jaw-dropping dance moves, which is ultimately the only reason anyone would put themselves through a movie like this. However in this respect the movie totally failed. The dancing is almost completely uninspiring. I have recently been watching the TV show "Americas best dance crew", which is the only reason I watched Beat the World, but in comparison the dancing in the movie is just Lame, with a capital L. I feel violated.

If you like great dancing, then this is a movie for you. Although other dance movies feature local dance competitions, in this movie dancers come from all over the world, not just locally - Berlin Germany, and Rio in Brazil. Some of the moves are incredible, it's hard to believe that the laws of physics are not being broken. The dancers are all amazing, but I think that Stephanie Nguyen really sticks out. Also I like Ray Johnson (Sho Tyme), great sense of humour and of course great sense of taste. It is also very interesting to see how the various crews train, nothing comes without lots of work and of course for the Fusion Crew, it helps that they have their own X-Man coach!
