A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

So having loved music videos from India for a long time & seeing bits & pieces of Bollywood style films I was not surprised that after seeing the trailer for this film last fall that I made it my mission to see it. Literally I tracked this film to several theaters & then finally to DVD. Waited "Patiently" for netflix to get over the rush of so many people wanting this video & finally got to see it. It was amazing on so many levels. The chemistry alone from Maneesh & Ranveer was so enjoyable to watch. They just fit so well together on screen like their characters do in the film. The music which I now own as of five minutes ago (DVD soon to follow) is amazing because you get a little bit of everything. Dance, Rock, some slow but quickly picks up tempo. I am still reeling from how much I loved this movie but I knew I would from the second I saw the trailer. If you love a good story, great music, wonderful acting, beautiful weddings & just a really good film then you will love this one. The director right from the start has you pulled in to this film. The shots he gets in this film are just nothing short of amazing. I really like his style & the way he did his montage scenes. Recommended for anyone who loves an amazing musical style film!~!

This is probably one of the best movies of 2010 mainly due to the decent acting by a pair of newcomers which gives hope for the future of bollywood.I don't know if Ranveer Singh will emulate his acting in future movies or improve on it but his role in this movie was really tailor made for him. The plus side is that the characters were more Indian mentality based as opposed to trying to act as westernized people which has been the case for quite a lot of young actors and actresses these days.Ranveer and Anushka complement each other very well, especially in the comedy scenes and the initial interaction. Anushka falters a bit in the emotional element but that can be forgiven. She's young and has time to improve. This is also the first movie where her male costar actually looks more her age, unlike her pairings with Akshay and Shahrukh thus far.The initial story is fresh and good and it's interesting to see the two main characters set up their business and forge a partnership. It stumbles after their quarrel and from there on it becomes a case of following the well used and typical path to a conclusion that was never in doubt, nor surprising. Still, it's worth watching.Songs are great and both actors are excellent dancers. I liked the trio of supporting cast in the flower arranger, the cook and the music guy.Ranveer and Anushka have shown that you don't need a star father, uncle, or mother to make it in show business and that it's the ability to act rather than who's name you have that makes a big difference. Sadly, bollywood will always give preferential treatment to truly awful sons and daughters of the stars of yesterday and nothing to promising and talented non related people. But in the meantime enjoy a little gem of a movie and when "Ainwayi Ainvayi" plays turn up the sound!

Wow! After years, finally Yashraj films have made something with more substance and that looks less like a 2 hour plus extension of a wannabe Western video. 'Band Baaja Baaraat' is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Bittoo and Shruti. Their first encounter with one another is a rocky start of a friendship that extends to a business partnership as Bittoo helps Shruti make her dream come true. Business goes great while there is friendship. However, things rapidly go downhill when the friendship begins to crack.Writer and director Maneesh Sharma has done a superb job. He balances romance and humour very well. The comedic scenes work hilariously and the two leads have excellent chemistry. Ranveer Singh shows a lot of potential. He's confident and does a great job of matching wits with Anushka Sharma. Vivacious Sharma shines. Given the right roles, she seems to get better with each movie. They a supported by some fine actors. I also enjoyed the soundtrack. The songs have that foottapping energy and some of the lyrics were hilarious. Yashraj films are known for their lavish art direction which actually works very well for 'Band Baaja Baaraat' as the movie is about weddings.Maneesh Sharma's sincere storytelling has paid off. 'Band Baaja Baaraat' is a colourful rom-com with soul. I hope Yashraj continues to stay on this track rather than churn out trash like 'New York' and 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'.

After a long time you get to see a lovestory packaged in a completely fresh manner by Yashraj banner which has a very few dull moments. The debutant director Maneesh Sharma has done an excellent job in his first movie with a debutant actor Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma who is doing only her third movie. The movie though having no big names turns out to be a complete entertainer. The tone of the movie is set by the song 'tarkeebein' right in the beginning. You will realise that Ranveer Singh might not be that accomplished an actor, but still he has done a very good job playing Bitto Sharma, the carefree lad from Saharnpur studying in Delhi to break away from the clutches of his village agricultural business. On the other hand, Shruti Kakkar(Anushka) is a typical girl from Janakpuri, Delhi aspiring to be a big wedding planner. The hero heroine meet and starts the business of wedding planning. The movie thereon catches their journey from bottom to top with a lot of twist and turns. The director has tried to make sure that there is not a single dull moment in the movie and handles the storyline very well. The director has also captured the Delhi wedding scene in an excellent manner making this movie even more fun to watch. Ranveer Singh has got great comic timing and surprisingly he is the one who actually makes the movie worth the watch. Some people think that Ranveer is not hero material, but he has done complete justice to his role and you couldn't have expected better casting, though Manu Rishi was completely wasted as the inspector in the movie. Anushka, with all other actors has done a very good job. Though the movie becomes a bit predictable towards the end, but still overall it turns out to be a very good watch. Its a must see for people who love seeing fun movies!!
