The three characters created such a bang in the industry.Hats off to Sanjay Leela BAnsaali. They have applied good sets as that of the era.The way that each persons helplessness is shown is amazing. The camera has captured the war scenes perfectly. Many shots are extended to show its depth and incidence in the play. As for the music,They are soothing and as per the occasion and the background scores!each better than the other. Both the characters shine in their own way.Kashi happily receives mastani to her house and celebrates together with her.A lady's happiness is found to be her husbands happiness. And she knew that in future, mastani will called with baaji. The fact is not about the length but the way in which it is shown.Mastani also dutifully brings presents when baaji cannot come to palace on sons birth even when she knew that she will be insulted.Kashi's conversations with Mastani depicts how much love kashi has for him. Both the womens in his life proved lucky for him. Also she did not break her promise of her country in which if she marries a dagger then she has to live the whole life with the owner of that dagger.

I watched this film back in December or January, when it was released. Apart from the flawless performances by all actors and mind-blowing and poetic dialogues, I failed to appreciate much of it. I thought it was boring and a film that makes no sense - maybe it was the low quality of the copy that I had acquired, or the lack of subtitle in it that hindered me from understanding the Marathi words uttered in it as well as the classical Hindi used that makes a great part of the film. Then I watched a video of the Filmfare Awards 2016 and heard Sanjay Bhansali say the following words after winning an award...."This film is my tribute to 'Mughal-e-Azam' (1960).... "This somehow sounded very attention grabbing and to be the words of a man immensely proud and satisfied at his achievement. This was the day I marked it in my tasks list to go this one another go; and what a decision it was! I thoroughly enjoyed this epic this time around and, given the availability of a subtitle, understood the film a lot better, which have made me hugely appreciative of the metaphors and the philosophies conveyed throughout the film. This is indeed a wonderful tribute to 'Mughal-e-Azam', something that not too many films can claim to have actually done, firstly because similar films have hardly been made ever since. The original novel that this film has been based upon of course deserves as much credit, and add to this the stunning performances from everyone, especially from Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone - this is not to say that Priyanka Chopra was behind them in any way, it is just that her role itself didn't need (and allow) her to express herself too much. She went steadily at it. The direction was amongst Sanjay's best, he is known for the decoration etc., but this was for a change a film in which all of that stuff made sense and in fact was a good addition to it.Not many films would've touched upon this, but it is so great to see a film depicting how family disagreements, disputes and complaints can from within destroy even the strongest of men, and what a more appropriate way it could've been than to show a great warrior with great history of winning battles go down in a battle that many of us wrongly dismiss as trivial? We conveniently forget that it is these "Trivial matters" that so often result in mental issues such as depression. The Buddha said....."He who loves 50 people has 50 woes.... "And what a calamity it could turn out to be to see your loved ones in a conflict! What a calamity indeed it was for Bajirao that the people that he would've to wage a war on to rescue his second wife would be his own mother and his elder son. So I'm in awe of the philosophical take on this issue, showing a warrior lose a battle most unlikely and unexpected, is really really admirable!Although it is after all a piece of fiction, but given my views on polygamy, I felt more if not an equal amount of sympathy for Kashi. She remains a woman of a faultless character, is obedient to her husband and even bows to his wish with a hurtful but as well as an open heart, but pays as much as Bajirao and Mastani do, or perhaps more....a couple of criticisms of the films are, firstly, showing Bajirao go into a state of mourning on the back of that attack made less sense. I would ideally have shown either him son getting seriously injured or perhaps to add more to it, him being killed altogether, and shown that he kills all the plotting soldiers etc. but can't avenge it from his kinfolk, especially the mother. At least one aspect of my suggested replacement would've made more sense.Secondly, it made sense to see Bajirao pass away due to his illness, the fever and the sudden hallucinations that he began to suffer from, so that is not too outrageous, but to show Mastani too die (at the same time) out of nowhere was inexplicable. I understand the Divine angle shown to it and showing that it was a "Force" that caused it to happen, but I would've shown it differently. Maybe as a prelude to it begun showing minutes earlier that she too falls very ill in the imprisonment, or something. So if not for the above couple of things, I would've called it a perfect affair and awarded it hundred percent marks, but on that too I might add that it is more of a 9.5 instead of nine. Awarding it 10 out of 10 however wouldn't have reflected the minor faults that I would in it.In short, 9.5 out of 10! My best summation of my admiration is in the title of my review, well and truly.I'm surely going to make arrangements for 'her' to watch this one soon, because perhaps not many would be able to relate to it as much as she would, given the poor girl is torn between her love and commitment to me and the certain disapproval of our relationship that is bound to follow from her family. The fears of her future cause her many sleepless nights, even though she hides it from me, but she cannot hide it from me because these are the exact thoughts that I fear so much whenever I think of her and her family, and I really do think about all this a lot.

It is heartening to see that regional cultures and languages are being integrated to create a unified body of literature. The most commendable aspect about this movie the linguistic detailing . It was impressive to watch Ranvir Singh delivering dialogue with a appropriate demeanour. However, as always , bollywood reverts to the browbeaten track of glorifying "Love" or as we can safely say " Filmy Love" .Given the solid introduction depicting Baji Rao as a resolute leader and patriot , it seems strange that the director allows weakly developed love angle to hijack the story , abruptly. The individual performances are quite alright , but the story line is rather weak . I am not sure regarding the historical accuracy of the plot and hence would not comment upon it. The movie could have been much better had it been been focused. Still, It is a one time watch . Not a bad effort but then not a stupendous one either.
