It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Fred Vogel's original August Underground was a totally repulsive, yet very convincing piece of fake snuff that worked well due to the fine performances from the leads, the authentic camera-work, and the ultra-realistic gore.For their follow up movie, August Underground's Mordum, ToeTag Pictures have increased the level of sickness, depravity and violence, but in doing so, have lessened its effectiveness as pseudo-snuff. What happens in Mordum is so OTT and grotesque, that it no longer seems real. Despite being a wall-to-wall catalogue of violence, the result is a pretty tedious film (there's just TOO MUCH screaming and swearing) which ultimately lacks the visceral impact and shock value of its predecessor.Although not a great film, Mordum will nevertheless find an audience amongst gore-hounds and fans of extreme cinema thanks to some fine stomach-churning effects and a few very sick taboo-busting scenes: a man is forced to emasculate himself with a pair of scissors; a woman makes herself vomit over her two screaming victims (who not once put up any resistance); a man guts a woman, then drops his trousers and proceeds to have a go at the dead woman's abdominal cavity; and then there's the notorious bath scene which takes sexual deviancy on film to a new (low) level—Hell, I don't even want to describe what happens here!!I'm going to be generous and award Mordum 4 out of 10 for its sheer audacity and willingness to go the extra mile to offend, but to be honest I found it quite tiresome; it really should've been so much better.

August Underground is definitely an important film to underground horror film making. It had nothing to it, but showed that there are directors out there who are willing to go that extra step further to capture the depravities of humankind. It is everything that the word "Horror" stands for, so I thought that although August Underground wasn't my cup of tea, it understood what true horror is all about. Unfortunately with August Underground Mordum, they pushed the boundaries too far and as a result, lost the realism that the first one created. Mordum came across as a film that's sole purpose was to provoke an angry response. It was the rebellious kid at school who miss behaves because he wants the whole class to look at him. Seeking attention was something I didn't feel so much with the first one, but scenes in the sequel will have you thinking the exact same thing (that the sequel tries too hard). Now don't get me wrong. The first AU has scenes that are truly horrifying and disgusting, but never really elevated to the level of being unrealistic. It had a strange subtlety to it that made you think "this could be your next door neigbours", but AU Mordum just goes beyond that and to the point of a bad horror movie that you have seen before.Its basically a lazy film that was created off the success of the first. Nothing new, just increased the level of depravity to the point where it doesn't feel real anymore.

Well, about what you would expect I guess. There isn't much of a storyline here at all. You are going to get your sick crap and plenty of it. Not really much outside of torture, bondage rape kinda stuff. There isn't any plot and there is a lot of yelling throughout the whole movie. Lots of rape, violent torture stuff, just tries to be sick, but it's pretty fake to me. I guess for a low budget the effects probably aren't that bad. I guess some people might like this kind of stuff, but I am not one. I have it a 2 just due to the lead actress, she can act for sure.

Alright since this last week was horror week for me i viewed the most violent sick brutal and disturbing videos ever made and yes i also saw 3 guys one hammer which i couldn't bear to watch cause its real. Though saw of all was most difficult for me to watch though only a bit , i never looked away. But this movie... well its missing maybe one of the most important features a film needs to have ; being dragged into the movie and be glued to the screen and i have to say the movie was just plain boring to me.It just didn't bring the message. Only one of the last scenes disturbed me a bit. The maniacally laughter and giggles made me think of jack ass and dirty Sanchez(same formula of jackass) which were both entirely fake when it comes to laughter and actually having a lot of fun. Also the characters in this movie seemed to be more primal and dumb than any cavemen EVER was. The most 'intellegent conversations' where between the murderers and the victims and trust me, that is not a good thing. The only reason I'm not giving this a 2 or 1 is because how its being filmed actually do make it look real in many scenes but there were just too many dumb scenes in it for me to like it and many things are very unrealistic when u think about it like how come NO ONE ever heard those maniacs making so much noise all the time ? Thats just one example. Im giving this a 3 instead of a 2 cause i couldn't find subtitles for it so i cant entirely judge the quality of the conversations between the killers simply cause i couldn't hear it clear enough.Only for the perverted and gore obsessed if u ask me..
