Truly Dreadful Film

... View MoreOne of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
... View MoreOne of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
... View MoreNow I've watched four Harlequins Romance (Broken Lullaby, Diamond Girl, Hard to Forget) I thought At the Midnight Hour had a very cute story and solid acting from everyone. Richard sorta wasn't my type (he looked like a mix of Jeff Bridges, Kurt Russell and Nick Nolte) I guess Ilike dark haired guys, but we was still good. Liz was definitely good looking. I believed the chemistry between them. Although based from watching the previous Harlequin romance series I thought they would have some sort of sorta R rated love scene again when they got together. But they didn't. They did kiss in the library couch (woohoo) and after that they cut to the day after which they showed them with blankets on each other. Of course you know by that picture that they slept together. However no partial nudity, etc. was ever shown. I think that's good because the whole movie was very sweet. It would have detracted from its sweetness. The story was definitely good and also that whole mystery of Richard's wife. All in all very enjoyable and cute! Oh yeah, and I agree with the previous reviewer - Liz just seemed so kind and good and wonderful.
... View MoreThe movie follows your standard dime-a-dozen romance plot pitting an warm-hearted sensitive young nanny against her stone-faced distant employer, with a wife who died mysteriously years ago. Such a plot would be forgivable if the leads had chemistry, but Elizabeth (Patsy Kensit) and Richard (Simon MacCorkindale) fail to bring the romance to the table. Many of their scenes together seem awkward and forced, and the eventual first kiss between them seemed so out-of-the-blue.Aside from that, it very much feels like a cloyingly sweet made-for-TV movie that's watchable. That is, if there's nothing else on. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a fan of Alicia Scott or enjoy sappy romances.
... View MoreI have seen the movie At the Midnight Hour at least 4 times and think it is wonderful. It has a very loving feel to it,since it is a romance.Patsy is so feminine and kind in this picture, she really warmed me.It's a traditional story right out of a romance novel.Patsy is hired as a nanny to a offstandish, troubled, wealthy, handsome man,of course that is Simon Mccorkindale. With her caring, loving ways she manages to melt his stone walls down. Its predictable, but it has a certain chemistry thats always there,no matter how many times you see it.Patsy performance is the glue, she is very humble and show the best side of womanhood.Take a gander at this movie because if you like romantic novels you'll love this picture.
