Just perfect...
... View MoreI am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
... View MoreIt's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
... View MoreThe film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
... View MoreANGELS OF THE CITY is one of the lamentable straight-to-video thrillers that PM Entertainment put out in the late 1980s. These films were distinguished by their cheap ineptness more than anything else, and are a far cry from the hugely enjoyable action films that the company were making in the mid to late '90s. Here, they were suffering from minuscule budgets and talent, and this film's no exception. A couple of college girls dress up as prostitutes for a party and are mistaken for the real thing by gangsters. Despite the thriller aspects, there's absolutely no suspense here, and virtually no exploitation elements given the subject matter. It's just some PORKY'S style humour mixed up with a few rubbish revenge slayings.
... View MoreThe main characters are two college girls who have to act as prostitutes for one night as a test to enter a student fraternity. As a parallel story their two boyfriends also have an adventure in the same milieu. For those who succeed to watch the film over the entire 89 minutes, there is a little surprise in how the story ends. The DVD quality was bad, the music terrible, the story inconsistent, the script was bad or maybe didn't exist at all. The actors weren't helped by bad directing. The obviously low-budget film does not fit in any genre. Part thriller, part action and part college, part tragedy and a bit of romance, non of it convincing. When watching I tried to guess the year of production. My bet was mid-80s, but obviously I was wrong. Even in 1990, this film must have looked outdated. So what's cult about this film? It's the 80s, the fashion and what people then thought is cool. I give it a second star, because it is the first film for most participants including the makers.
