Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Soon after this film starts, the husband is called off to work--which is pretty odd as it's Christmas day. Soon after leaving, a weirdo barges in the house and takes the wife hostage. He ties her up and goes on a LONG rant that really makes no sense. He's obviously deranged and the wife, naturally, feels very threatened. At times, he voices concern--telling her he won't hurt her. Other times, he threatens to hurt her. When a neighbor drops by, he also takes her prisoner and ties her up as well. Later, he starts licking the wife and molesting her--and I had enough. While I never found any of this very pleasant, seeing a woman molested and the guy about to rape her was just too much. It could have been done tastefully but this one seemed to show WAY too much--and I worried that it would appeal to sex offenders. And, I just turned off the film. Now there COULD be a reason for all this and the film supposedly has some sort of twist--but frankly, I just wanted it all to stop. Tasteless and nasty.
