This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

This film consists of a couple small rain forest critters trying to get a meal--and almost becoming one in the process. This is one of three short animated films that were not nominated for an Oscar but were shown along with the nominees for Best Animated Short. The films are sort of like 'honorable mentions' and are, in some cases, much better than a few of the Oscar nominees (the selections, to put it bluntly, were confusing to most of the audience seeing the films today). While I don't think "Amazonia" deserves an Oscar, it IS very enjoyable and well worth your time. However, don't expect high art. While the CGI is very nice (but INTENSELY colored), the story is very cartoony and lacks depth. Now this is NOT a complaint--as I laughed through the film. Just don't expect high art--just some cute animated characters doing silly stuff.
