Along Came Polly Trailers

Reuben Feffer is a guy who's spent his entire life playing it safe. Polly Prince is irresistible as a free-spirit who lives for the thrill of the moment. When these two comically mismatched souls collide, Reuben's world is turned upside down, as he makes an uproarious attempt to change his life from middle-of-the-road to totally-out-there.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

It's not often I like romantic comedies, but this one is easy watching and I love the opposites attract in this film. The funny bits are the uncomfortable bits!

Most hilarious socially embarassing jokes ever. Childlike fart jokes abound. Funny as hell though and that comes from me who really doesnt like these kind of jokes usually. But the jokes are excecuted with a finesse that is just excellent! Especially the first half of the movie makes my stumach hurt from laughter. Lots of praise for Philip Seymour Hoffman whose talent is extra ordinarily funny in this movie: "let it rain", " white chocolate". You will know what I meant when you see the hilarious and messy basketball scene. Even writing this review I often burst out in laughing remembering the funny scenes. It is a new comedy classic. One of Ben Stiller's best. One of Jennifer Anniston loveliest ever. One of Philip Seymour Hoffman funniest ever. I just couldnt stop laughing and had to restrain myself in order not to wake the neighbours! I AM A HAPPY HIPPO !

Ben Stiller is a likable enough comedic performer and Jennifer Aniston was at the height of her 'Friends' fame when this romantic comedy was made. It's a decent enough film, with some big laughs, but it never seems to know what sort of film it wants to be, and ventures from heart-warming to lewd with alarming ease.As a step away from her 'Rachel' persona, Aniston chose well, but her character is so two dimensional and at times annoying, that I could never really like her.If anything it is a film stolen by the supporting cast, with Hank Azaria and the much missed Phillip Seymour Hoffman stealing every scene they're in.Pitched as a dream pairing of Stiller and Aniston, if anything it instead just reminds us of the good work both have done elsewhere.

Reuben (Ben Stiller) is a risk management analyst for a company which insures powerful executives. He is very good at his job and pleases his boss (Alec Baldwin) exceedingly. How does he miss on his choice of a marital partner? But, alas, he does. On his honeymoon, Reuben discovers his bride in a tryst with the scuba diving instructor, Claude (Hank Azaria). Back in Manhattan, heartbroken Reuben makes plans to move into the house he bought for his future wedded bliss. Soon after, Reuben is talked into going to an art show by his best friend and struggling actor, Sandy (Philip Seymour Hoffman). Lo and behold, he runs into Polly (Jennifer Aniston) who he knew long ago in high school. She's single, beautiful, and sweet. This is the instant cure he needs for his woes! Not so fast, Rube, Polly is not your match on paper. She likes spicy food, moving frequently, keeping a ferret, and supporting herself with a variety of jobs. As the supreme planner and avoider of risk, how could Polly be a long term romance for Reuben? This funny film has its moments of mirth and is satisfying in concept. Also, the cast is terrific, all, including those named above and such folks as Bryan Brown and Michele Lee. Sets and costumes are also quite nice. What is wrong with the script, my view, is that it often resorts to the most grotesque humor, bodily functions, toilet accidents, etc. Even a wonderfully happy ending doesn't erase this icky humor from the big picture. Therefore, although it is entertaining in parts, those looking for the best in romantic comedy should not get this one. Just Like Heaven, for example, is a better choice. But, this viewer concedes that some may like this one better for the very faults I list.
