A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

For the life of me, I do not know where all over the top hatred, and negative press revenues, for this movie, are coming from.Did you all watch the same movie I did? I watched this movie, knowing from the beginning, that it had an all star cast, and I admit, some of my favorite actors, and in my opinion, they all gave great performances! Kudos to the casting director! The little girl, Danielle Rose Russell (Grace), had one of the most emotional, heart wrenching, non speaking scenes, in the entire movie! She and Bradley Cooper killed it! I cried, and still do cry, every time that scene comes on. Very emotional, and highly believable. When I watch a movie, it isn't so much the witty dialogue, or over the top action sequences, that draw me in, it is the expressions, and non verbal communication, between the movies characters/actors! I have to be able to relate in some way, to the circumstance or situation. The story has to be believable! This movie was loaded, with tons of non verbal communication, and I loved it! Cameron Crowe hit it out of the ball park with this one! I love Cameron Crowe's movies! He has away of writing and directing, that suits my sensibilities, and exposes the raw human condition! Add a story line, that is highly believable, filmed in a beautiful location, along with the mesmerizing chemistry, between Bradley Cooper, (Brian Gilcrest), Rachel McAdams(Tracy Woodside), Emma Stone(Alision Ng), Bill Murray(Carson Welch), and John Krasinski(John "Woody" Woodside) and every one of the remaining co-stars, it all added up for me, to be an wholesomely entertaining, emotionally charged, heartfelt drama, with a dash of quirky humor, thrown in for good measure! Also, I love the fact, there was zero gratuitous nudity, sexual exploitation, or foul language! Mega points and respect from me, for not going after the low hanging fruit! Believe it or not, not one f bomb was uttered, during the entire movie! That has to be some kind of record, and worthy of some recognition! All in all, Aloha, was in my estimation, a great movie, and proof that "paid for" movie critics, don't always have it right!

Written and directed by Cameron Crowe, ALOHA, is actually a romantic comedy in search of something redeemable. Brian Gilcrest (Bradley Cooper) is a somewhat disgraced military defense contractor that is trying to smooth over a sensitive situation, when he represents billionaire Carlson Welch (Bill Murray), who is eager to launch a private rocket from an Hawaiian island military base.Things will get a bit complicated with issues concerning a Hawaiian leader (Dennis Kanahele); Gilcrest's former girlfriend Tracy (Rachel McAdams), who is now married with two children; and an alluring fighter pilot Capt. Allison Ng (Emma Stone), who is assigned to be his military liaison, escort and watchdog.Plenty of characters to develop; a thing Crowe does so well. Tracy's son (Jaeden Lieberher) is obsessed with Hawaiian mythology and outer space. Tracy's daughter (Danielle Rose Russell) is discovering her womanhood and doesn't know that Brian is her real father. My favorite scenes are when Stone dances with Murray at a party and when Cooper and Stone finally embrace for the first time. The story line is hindered by its choppiness, but there is a real "feel good" attitude about the movie. Also starring: Alec Baldwin, John Krasinski, Danny McBride and Michael Chermus. Personally, Miss Stone made the movie for me. A very full soundtrack features the likes of: Hall & Oates, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Andy Iona and His Islanders, Tears For Fears, David Crosby, George Martin, Beck and Elvis Presley.

Not sure why so many are complaining about this film. I watched it, and was quite charmed by it. Watched it again, after recommending it to a few friends. Half of them got it, the other half complained. I found the writing to be bordering on magical. A bit surreal at times. It is becoming so hard to find a well written film, coming out of Hollywood these days, so it is refreshing when one finds something like this. The scenes with Bradley Cooper and Rachel McAdams (both were outstanding) were totally believable, and there was real chemistry there. His character was well conceived, and Alec Baldwin was funny. But, the top scenes in the film were with the Maestro Bill Murray. Oh my God. They must have been written with him in mind. There were some plot contrivances that were a bit much. But, they are forgivable, when the rest of the film is this good. Virtually the entire scene in the bar for the Christmas party was pure magic. I will not give anything away here, but pay attention to the dialogue. It is gorgeous. That scene alone is worth watching this movie for. Many screenwriters and directors could take a cue from this film. It is very well put together, and a delightful film to watch.
