good back-story, and good acting
... View MoreAdmirable film.
... View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
... View MoreThe tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
... View MoreAlice's Circus Daze (1927)*** (out of 4)The first film in the series to feature Lois Hardwick in the role of Alice is a pretty good one. Alice and Julius are preparing for their time in the spotlight when we see what other acts the circus has to offer. This includes a rubber man as well as a lion tamer whose head gets a tad bit too close to the lion's mouth. ALICE'S CIRCUS DAZE isn't going to be mistaken as a masterpiece by anyone but if you're a fan of the series then there's certainly enough laughs here to keep you entertained. The animation is also quite good and especially during one long shot where we see all sorts of performances happening at one time in the frame. The highlight of the picture is clearly the one where the lion bites the head off the tamer and plays catch with it.
